Sounds good. And I don't think it's extremely difficult if you really want it. I have a friend who started as a music blogger, and he had similar tastes to yours (plus some weird experimental sh*t and world music in his recipe). About two years ago he started thinking about actually making music, and since then he has done this and went to a musical production masters' in Barcelona. Maybe the fact that he was an IT guy helped him with the technology, but I don't know if that's really an advantage.
