And the only slight weaknesses on the new album are potentially the lyrics (not the vocals). I need to read the lyrics really though. Some if the intros are a bit jarring but soon fade when the tunes develop.
I like the experimentation on the release and I like the two instrumental tracks too.
e to the power of i times plus one is zero Now that's a fine chorus.

Splink is tremendously awful.
The intro to Splink is a bit grating but once the slide diminishes, it develops into something awesome. I just wish they'd developed it more.
And as I said, the lyrics are the weakest element for me. I miss the old Hammill. Although there are some brief glimpses of it.

But I am genuinely interested in your thoughts. Despite knowing you find it quite average. I want to know why.
I personally really enjoyed it. Sure, it's not anything as good as classic VdGG but I still think it's a 4/5 and may end up better than Present for me.
Thinking of the classic would indeed be wrong. It may have been that I did a whole marathon before hearing it the first time, but that was just then. Afterwards, even with few growing moments, I still can't call it solid.
Even so, it put Trisector in a better light. There I can feel the trio trying new ideas, but under their trademark formulas. It has the VdGG vibe. I miss that hereon.

I don't... was that the 8-fold digipak they put out when the album was initially released? I've been searching EVERYWHERE for a copy of that thing but to no avail...
It's right on their website And I think it's a re-release, but I don't have actual info.
I didn't realize they were re-releasing it. I'll need to order that as soon as possible.
