Ah! A fellow Angelino! Big smile

I hope you find the website to your liking. Definitely a great resource for all things prog.

You could start with the top 100 list and make your way from there. There's just so much out there that you'll want to get it all. Have fun with your discoveries! Hopefully you take a liking to more "prog" music.

WOW!  All of these replies are great comments that have me come to the conclusion that I will be sticking around here for a while.  I am impressed with the participation and the ideas expressed, so I won't be so worried about whether I am or I'm not - I'll just do my "thang!"

Erik

LMAO!  I said, "thang."

Hi Catcher: I would love to believe this, but that's an idea I find dangerous because people tend to believe Prog is some kind of quality certificate (If it's Prog is good)..

This site is full of great music in every sub-genre, that's true , but there are also some terribly bad or amateurish bands that released infamous albums.

Of course I believe the great music is a vast majority.

Iván

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Nobody will give a 100% valid answer what Prog is (maybe everybody's definition is 100% correct), I have more than three decades as a fanatic and still can't give you an answer that is exact to the answer of any other Prog fan.

But I can tell you something, the fun is not in creating a universal definition, the fun is the search for the discovery of Prog.

Iván.

Sorry we went to such great lengths to hide the answer from you.

http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive-rock.asp#definition

Hang around the forums long enough and things should become clear as mud for you.

The answer to this question has been offered a million times on these forums and I've never yet seen a satisfactory definition. There are at least as many definitions of Prog as there are Prog bands and I guess that's what makes this music we profess to love such an inexhaustible source of delight, frustration, debate and intrigue for everyone here.
