Thick As A Brick is hella more symphonic. Aqualung is still frimly rooted in the blues rock with some proggy explorations here and there.Good classic rock, but it doesn't has the progs IMO.

hello, i accidently clicked on an album rating that i didn't even know the artist. The artist is saturnia and the album is muzak. I think i just got excited when I saw the nipple! Can somebody fix and delete that rating? I really don't want to listen to that album, one review says it's really bad haha. For the love of nipple, help me out.

I am kind of scared to post here, because I myself only reviewed 6 Albums on progarchives, because they were the ones I found really really good in the last years. So I am not a very objective reviewer myself^^

But please take a look at this clown: http://www.progarchives.com/Collaborators.asp?id=35737

According to him, DT and Symhony X were good this year, the rest was crap...

I think maybe until you get to a certain number of ratings (like 10 or so) they should all have to be approved by an admin before they are added. Of course, I realize that would require more admin personnel so it may not be feasible.

That would be a nonsensical amount of work for the admins. Hundreds of ratings are submitted daily.

He has joined the site few months ago and probably hasn't understood the meaning and the purpose of the ratings or of the site itself. Ratings only have a low weight so are not very influential. If you want you can PM him asking why he listens to so many bad music.

Don't be scared matey as we welcome the feedback and will always investigate on your behalf. Judging by his member page his one star ratings run the whole gamut of  12 sub genres of Prog. If he wanted to attempt ratings manipulation he would normally 'scattergun' a volley of 5 or 1 star reviews towards a select few individual artists or individual sub genres. Yep, he spends wads of wonga on lots of albums he professes to loathe but it's his loss.

The weighting system of reviews employed on PA makes such attempts at ratings manipulation by rank and file members utterly futile anyway. Welcome to the forum.

Under each review there's a link that points directly to this thread. If you click on "Report this review" we see also the link. If the album has a lot of reviews finding the one that you are reporting can be hard. Smile

You mean this one I think? http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=534737

The review doesn't say much about anything but it's probably not violating any rules.
Unless this user (who registered just to bring this album down) would already have another account.

^I think to be honest, that one oughta be removed on account of illiteracy. Seriously, if someone cannot complete a cogent thought, they shouldn't be writing reviews.

I sympathise with what you are saying, but he is clearly not breaking any rules.

I would suggest that the only person taking his views seriously will be himself and Mum, and his effect on the overall rating will be quite small as well.

It is one of these cases, where we know that such review is wrong, that it's not fair, but we have no means to prevent it. Downside of democratic society, from which PA takes some principles. Everyone can post reviews.

It has many positives, so I am glad.

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"

Of course we can, but as long as they don't break any rules, we can do (the word starting with s and ending with t).

However,

Quote 8 - Before assigning a star rating to an album, you should ensure you understand what the differing numbers of stars mean. Please use "one" and "five star" ratings very sparingly -- most albums you dislike will have at least some positive qualities, and not every album that you enjoy will be a perfect "masterpiece of prog".

Only complete rubbish and I mean really terrible album with nothing to offer, would deserve 1 stars. Even if he hates the album, he should try to get himself over his rage and point out some positives. If he's not trying to look for them, then the review is useless and serves only as conduit

His review is not much helpful.

There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"
