Yep.  If Fister doesn't hang that curveball to Gardner in the 6th inning it is a totally different game.

Nova went 16-4 for his rookie season (including 12-0 over his final 16) a bit wild at times...but also lights out just as much.
Went from "OK let's see what he's got" to a rock solid #2.

Also glad to see Cano has blossomed into the Yankee MVP we hoped for.

For what it's worth I didn't think your pitcher was too bad really, but that's what the Yanks do...capitalize on mistakes. They always have these mega single innings, it's honestly why I get worried because they can be inconsistent overall.

But I feel more confident in our 3 man rotation, the bullpen is one of the better ones, Mo is Mo and the offense still seems on track.

1st time that I've seen Nova pitch.  He was quite impressive.  Robinson Cano is the difference maker.  The Yanks got all of the good bounces today.  Their ground balls found holes, and the Tigers groundballs didn't.

Our 3rd base coach, Gene Lamont, has been an idiot all year, so not surprised that he sent Avila even though everyone knew he'd be out by 30 feet.

Shame Nova couldn't finish the game. I mean he was great, but just would've cool to seal the whole deal.
Bigger shame they had to call in Mo just to get one out!

That would be a Yankees win though Big smile

CC says he feels fine to play tomorrow, but Girardi is going with Garcia as planned. Man, I'd be tempted to use CC...if he was to have a good game and the Yanks went up 2-0 then used Garcia...damn that'd be a great series.

Two more games like tonight and it looks to be the Phils and the Brewcrew.

I do believe Phils/Brewers are the expected match up.

sad thing is, if the Yanks do win this series the rain delay will be the next bullet for the "GAH Yankees were given another one" gun ugh....

Then the obligatory: bought team, bought umps, they cheat, power of satan

edit: 9:04 PM would just like to say rain has started falling....Cry maybe it'll miss the city

Can't complain about how that turned out.  Doc settled in after the 2nd and the bats exploded mid-game.

Yeah, the weather here has sucked, it was raining earlier and is cloudy still. I'm fully expecting it to rain until the WS and ruin everything LOL

Well....at least the Cards did lead at one point.

Depends on the rest of the starting staff, I guess.  Who gets hurt more by having their ace limited to one start*?

* really, I mean one long outing

Wow I can't believe MLB tried to play that game and cost us the pleasure of seeing Verlander/CC match up twice. Moronic. This is why the NFL is more popular.

Well that and the fact that it's better.

Let's go Phils!

and Rays!

If the Yanks don't make it, I'll probably root for the Cards.
Pretty sure Philly is the best team in baseball but hey, this is why we play the game.

Also looked how pumped up and proud that bird is!
