Awake is so overrated. Give me the live versions of those tracks over the studio versions any time.

The Perfect Element by far. The best thing beside Remedy Lane coming from PoS.

These polls keep getting more difficult to pick a favourite. No vote from me because my post count is too low (?) but I'd pick Awake because I am a Dream Theater fan before a PoS fan, even though both bands are among my favourites. Awake is by far Dream Theater's darkest album and TPE is Pain of Salvation's darkest album among a lot of dark albums. The guitar solos on Awake are brilliant as well as the overall musicianship, and the lyrical content is bizarre but fitting given the situation with Kevin Moore. The whole album fits together as a masterpiece as does TPE, however I find myself listening to Awake a lot more than TPE. The Perfect Element is unique in that it has a lot of weird layering and transitions that are original and work, but I feel that they don't really add anything to the compositions. Idioglossia for example is almost hard to listen to because of the overdone layering. Awake is all brilliant and complex compositions without a single weak track on the album and a complete change of pace from Images and Words. It showed a darker side from DT that they were able to move on from while PoS beat the "we're sad, dark artists" horse to death.
It's nice to see PoS get some recognition on this forum though and to be holding their own against DT in these polls.

I went with Awake, as it's my second favorite DT album... If the PoS choice had been Remedy Lane instead of Perfect Element, I probably wouldn't even have voted because that'd be an impossible choice to make.

I have never been a huge fan of Awake. It has some good songs but some songs are a little too metal oriented for me.
