Just from scrolling down his reviews/ratings page, it didn't look to me like he's abusing the system, as there seems to be a pretty fair distribution; I didn't look at specific artists, but it may be that he just doesn't like them, and rates their albums accordingly.

If he listens to two albums by a band, thinks they're both 1 star, why would he torture himself and listen to 3-6 more?

Oh yes he has to improve on his "negative review" writing. Who doesn't?
We could sure make an interesting list of insulting language from the 1 and 2 star reviews on PA. Collabs and non-collabs alike.

But I can't see anything inappropriate about his ratings. They appear genuine and consistent to me.

Some interesting reading, from his reviews I'd say 1791 Overture knows his stuff.
And couldn't agree more with conclusion as well as the wording of his review for DT's "Dramatic Turn of Events".

^1791 Overture's ratings appear legit to me (yes, he loathes DT but so do I Winkand to be fair he has given a couple of their albums 'pass marks')

They are terrible reviews!
He reviewed Haken's new one terribly that did not deserve such a bashing, and he keeps mentioning reviewers opinions comparing them to inferior than his own. He uses words like Egads, and Jesus, just to vent his distaste. He hates new prog metal and gives old metal such as DTs debut 3 stars and hails it as a great listen. Iīm with you on this Marty. I donīt have any urge to listen to music that I know I wonīt like. Simple as that. It shows in my reviews, because I tend to write about 4 star albums - and maybe the occasional 3 star. Itīs not because I like everything, but because I use my reviews as recommendations - meaning I have to like it myself.
I think Iīve got around 4000 albums - and it would take me years upon years to write about them all - so I choose to write about the special ones, and try to store those magical masterpieces for a rainy daySmile
Why spend your time listening to something that really isnīt your bag? To become a musical martyr and save the rest of us from such sonic crap? I donīt buy that at all...

^ Yes, suspicious new releases ratings, too good to be truth :-) They're one of the worst thing here, because the devaluation of ratings is then big. We know such albums when we see them, but we usually don't have enough evidence (or any evidence at all) to put stop to it.

You know, Froese isn't the biggest problem, usually it's one of the more mainstream genres ... you know which ones.

Most of the times, I simply wait for someone from left column to make a review, those who were elected into some kind of status (proven themselves) are honorable enough not to be fanboys without critic eye (or in rare moments they at least admit it).

Honor to all those who are trying to make objective and honest reviews in a right column, but the number of fake ones breaks it all, unfortunately.
