I'm not sure I understand, nor am I sure I really care to correct this. But I don't see how you could take offense to someone telling you that we should keep race as a non-issue.

I don't take offense at that but that is the way it is.  You can ignore it but it doesn't go away.  It isn't a correctable thing.

It's weird, one of those things that you can't  help but take personally.  I was just surprised at how it manifested between us.  So I shared it and so it is.

Therein you find the crux of the entire problem. You make everything a war.

OK but I'm going to have to track you down and kill you for saying that.

I endured the same on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised. They should've painted a little more of the situation in the movie though. My girlfriend explained to me all about the hunger games and how people got their names in the urns and about the oppressive nature of them more than the movie did. It was probably the only really big flaw in an otherwise nice entertaining movie.
It's unfortunate, but they're marketing to a certain audience. It's supposed to be a movie for adolescents. Thus the big push to diminish the violence and earn a PG-13 rating. A rich story of political strife and abuse kind of takes a backseat to, "Omg Pita's so cute and he'll die for her."I also surprisingly enjoyed it. I'm now being forced to read the books.

OK, I think you didn't mean to write haw instead of have.  My wife and I have discussed this and it took some interesting turns.  Is Zimmerman "white"?   If he had been "black" would he not have been arrested?  It's really hard not to take "race" out of the equation.  In any event, they guy was apparently not "standing his ground".  He was a mentally disturbed individual and actively went after someone and gunned him down.  I've seen the photos of the guy and if I'm not mistaken he is a hispanic guy with a jewish last name.  Nevertheless an unarmed black kid was gunned down who apparently wasn't doing anything wron.

What's the point of bringing race into it? Who cares if he would have been arrested if he were black? Let's just get the guy arrested and get this kid's killer behind bars. I don't see why it has to be a group A against group B thing. His death is being exploited and that's disturbing to watch.
Look, I am "white" and she is "black" it just came up and I'm surprised we had a heated discussion about it.
I don't see what that has to do with anything.
