Being from Briton origin, I'm a bit disturbed by the lack of love for Bagpipes, Uilean pipes and all their relatives. I DO enjoy the sound of binious, for an example. But I guess that will be an eternal fight between Anglo-Saxons and Celts...
What I hate is the sound of neon lights.
Bagpipes are not Celtic, most of Europe has some form of bagpipe like instrument, as this Flemish painting by Bruegel shows:
Instruments with drones are known throughout the world and most of them are pleasant enough, but I think the Picts chose the bagpipes just to annoy their neighbours - they certainly make more noise than a harp or lyre.

I have to agree, there's not really any instrument I dislike. However, creepy music box sound effects (Light of Day, Day of Darkness, anyone?) always make me a tad uncomfortable...

But they're supposed to make you feel like that, right?

I think most instruments have their place and sound good from time to time. I think, however, it is significantly hard to find a good usage of those heavy vibrato Hammond B2 tones used for Southern revivalist church worship services. You know, the kind they have when the preacher gets up and does his thing, and the organist plays a bluesy, gospel type thing. That vibrato organ upsets me 99% of the time.
