I've not seen it yet. I haven't seen the first reboot yet either, although I do have the DVD to watch. Just haven't had a chance yet.

We're definitely going to the new Star Trek movie sometime soon.  My wife's a big Trek fan from way back. Neener Neener.

I hate the idea of reboots, it seems like such a lazy way to make films.  The reason they do it, of course, is that they sell.  But I can't help thinking if they bothered to put out some good original movies that they would sell as well.  People will go see whatever's out, even crap, as long as it's hyped properly.

That said, I still go see and enjoy these reboots just because they're there and they are generally well executed - they used all the money they saved on coming up with a decent idea, and put it into making a top class production.  And it works just fine, I just wish there were more original ideas getting heard.  I know there have to be some screenwriters out there with great new ideas, they're just not getting made.

I feel mostly the same way. I do seem to enjoy most of the reboots that I have seen, but there is always a bit of "unease" over watching them. If is almost as though I kind of feel like I would be cheating on William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy if I were to watch and enjoy the new movies.

No worries there, Leonard Nimoy has a key role in the new Trek movies.  But I know what you mean.  The new Spock character just doesn't seem right to me.  At least the Captain Kirk character is different enough from Shatner's so that it feels like a fresh take on his character, but new Spock either sticks too close or deviates too far from the Nimoy original, it's kind of weird.  But it's not a dealbreaker in any event.  It's just a fun thing to do with my wife, I don't take movies very seriously anyway.

It is funny because I really enjoy the reboot of Hawaii Five-O, but in that case I never really watched the original other than a handful of episodes here and there. I enjoyed the reboot of Battlestar Galactica, but kind of the same thing there. I remember enjoying the original as a 7 or 8-year old kid, but honestly didn't remember all that much about it. The Starbuck being a woman was kind of weird, but it didn't take long to get over that. On the other hand, I refuse to watch the new Sherlock Holmes series because I refuse to accept Doctor Watson as a woman or the premise that they live in New York. The show itself is probably really good, but I just refuse to watch it.
