I'm thinking of making a mix-CD of some good acoustic guitar solos (mainly instrumentals, mainly focusing on the guitar), but I'm having trouble. So far I've only come up with these five songs:
1. "Black Mountainside," Led Zeppelin
2. "Bron-Yr-Aur," Led Zeppelin
3. "Horizons," Genesis
4. "The Clap," Yes
5. "The Narrow Way (Part 1)," Pink Floyd

What are some other songs that would be good to add to this playlist?

White Summer - The Yardbirds
Greensleeves - Jeff Beck Group
Eleanor Rigby (instrumental version) - The Beatles
Within You Without You (instrumental version) - The Beatles
Goodbye Pork Pie Hat - John McLaughlin

Ulver's Kveldsanger. It's a pure folk album.

edit: the track i linked has vocals, but it's one of the rare on the album that do

You said mainly instrumentals, if you want to throw in some vocals Jethro Tull would be a great fit - Wond'ring Aloud, Mother Goose, Only Solitare, One White Duck 0/10 Nothing At All, Nursie, Cheap Day Return

As far as instrumentals, Hackett's "Bay of Kings", "Momentum", & "Sketches of Satie" are all instrumental guitar (with some flute as well) Thumbs Up

Technically speaking that one certain song is "clap" and not "The Clap." It was misspelled on the YES album but apparently has been corrected on the cd version. But speaking of Steve Howe solo pieces "mood for a day" should be considered also though.

"Midnight Express" - Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme - "Waiting for the Punchline"
"Holy Man's Smile" "Belladonna"  well, just check out the entire 'Venus Over Venice' album - Peppino D'Agostino
"Northern Lights" - Dixie Dregs
"Yeolde" or "Old World" take your pick - Dixie Dregs
"Foreign Exchange" - Steve Morse Band
"Thanksgiving" - Mike Keneally
"Deliverance" - Blues Saraceno
"Duende" - Bozzio Levin Stevens
"Spiral" - Bozzio Levin Stevens
Steve Stevens also did a flamenco album called, appropriately enough, "Flamenco A Go-Go" and there's surely something to grab from that.

Hi,

Mine would all be by Egberto Gismonti and then Anthony Phillips.

Too much of the stuff listed here was just pop music filler on albums, that, for the most part was meaningless!
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Led Zeppelin--White Summer/Black Mountain Side
Very folky.
Rush--Hope
Lerxst makes his guitar hum, especially live.
Yes--Mood For a Day
Used to always listen to this one at night.
Matt Stevens--September Song
Loopy!
Devin Townsend--Hyperdrive (acoustic)
Incredibly cheesy.

When I think of pop music I don't associate it with acoustic instrumentals.

Thank you, all of you for giving me suggestions. You guys have given a lot to check out. I'm seeing some stuff from Steve Hackett and Howe. Earthmover, thank you for that pure folk track. The vocals were kinda wierd when I first heard them. That was a pretty cool song.   Schizoidman, I forgot all about the Yardbirds' version of White Summer. I thought of it when I was writing down Black Mountainside, but I was thinking of Page's electric version with Led Zeppelin. I don't know any of the other songs you listed. I'll half to check them out on YouTube. The same goes for the rest of you guys. I'm going to (try to) listen to all of your suggestions. Thank you all for the replies!

That's right. My dad said one of the interesting things about Opeth is that they're heavy metal, but they also have a lost of acoustic stuff. I'll have to check out those songs.

The Tea Party's 'The Edges Of Twilight' has a couple of sweet acoustic numbers

Here's the instrumental "The Badger"

This one has vocals (and an actual video), but it's really worth checking out. Dig that big guitar thing Jeff (the singer) plays. Obvious Zep fans, the title "Shadows on the Mountainside" itself sounds like an homage.
