I just don't really understand why anyone would want to argue about the validity/invalidity of religious beliefs, unless you're in a missionary position*.  I guess people feel behooved to respond to attacks.  But the attacks don't really have any effect anyway.

I saw a comment on CNN regarding the debate, and from the religious point of view they are "required" to spread the gospel of their beliefs to non-believers so that they will be "saved". 

Of course, the non-believers think that the believers are a bunch of uneducated nutjobs and therefore they need to be set straight. 

In reality, very few will be persuaded to change either way as a result of participating/viewing such a debate.

I always thought Shaggy was pretty cool, a guy I wouldn't mind partying with.
My other avatar is a Porsche

It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle if it is lightly greased.

I had a thing for Daphne.  LOL 

My CB radio handle used to be Scooby Doo when I was a kid and we travelled.  (This was how people communicated with other people in cars and trucks before the invention of Cell Phones).
