Take Remain in Light up a notch. Almost avant funk is some places, some groove jazz passages, going from kind of light psych to more of the dissonant jams. Vocals can be a little quirky sometimes though. It vibes hard, and while i'm not entirely sure if its for me or not - its def interesting.
I've not listened to that album, but I have heard some Rip Rig + Panic songs and I like 'em. I think Gazzardian mentioned them one time because one of the members is the daughter of trumpeter Don Cherry.

A nice collection of traditional New Orleans funk and soul, performed by amazing New Orleans artists, this is a 3-LP set.

Third release (1973) by RPI band Jumbo. Harsh vocals but not overpowering.
Good compositions with breaks from slow/mellow to hot/fast. Good guitar
with strong solos and nice acoustic. A variety of keyboards and very good flute.
