Topic: 5 Sub-Genres, 3 Bands - Part Three Posted: July 16 2012 at 14:02
The third addition in this continuing poll series, well at least that's my intention. The list contains some of the remaining Prog sub-genres listed on this site, but they're are still a couple left. Like I said before, I've tried to mix up the classics with the moderns, just so it appeals to everybody. My goes to the Experimental/Post Metal selection of bands - all three of those bands have created some of my favourite music of the past century, especially Hevy Devy. Atmospheric and heavy - it's great.

1. Folk - I like all three bands here, especially Strawbs and Dead Can Dance.
2. Electro - I like all three here too, but not quite as much as the above.
3. Psycho - I only like two of these - Eloy and Nektar.

This is a weird collection for me. I don't know Zeuhl, Iffy with Strawbs and haven't heard DCD, Prog Electronic isn;t my thing, and the Psych group isn't strong imo.

Hmm... Voted E/PM, even though I don't care for the one Devin Townsend album I have. Love Isis and Pelican. (Brian Eno is in PE?? Yet Vangelis and Synergy are in PR? Boggles the mind...)

Magma, Dun, Ruins...easy victory.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
Electronic now, but it is summer... Might have gone with Zeuhl in winter. Folk isn't far behind actually due to one of my favourite acts DCD, but Schulze, Kraftwerk( although mostly for their krautrock days, that is pre 75) and Eno are hard to beat. Also Dun only released one album, whereas these acts have vast discographies behind them. I really love that Dun record though, but come on....
Psych is meh to me here, but that's because I just don't get Oceansize. Not for me.
Post metal sounds uncomfortable. Is that like iron letters?
