Know precious little about UFO, although I faintly remember a few vids. Please inform as to its most prog output (best album?).

the OP said it does not have to be prog.

UFO's prog moment? their second album :)
Thanks for the heads up.

Hi,

1950

Hard to list "progressive" anything here, but here's a short list of stuff. The order is so-so, but Les paul is definitely one of the biggies that influenced music with his instrument, probably more than the others. Toscanini's version of the Tchaikovsky's 6th Symphony always seem to find itself ranked as one of the great recordings of classical music, and the definitive version of that Symphony.

Les Paul
Charlie Parker
Ella Fitsgerald
Toscanini (Tchaikovsky 6th Symphony)
Woody Guthrie
Pete Seeger
Edith Piaf
Nat King Cole
Stan Kenton
Billie Holiday
Benny Goodman

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

There are so many, canīt name just one:
Dark Side of the Moon, Selling England by the Pound, a Passion Play, Larks Tongues, Heartbreaker (from Free), Billion Dollar Babies, Ooh La La (from Faces), Space Ritual, Yessongs, Flying Teapot, Tubular Bells, Bananamour, Razamanaz (from Nazareth), Goats Head Soup, Cosmic Slop, Mott, Tres Hombres, New York Dolls, (pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd), Brothers and Sisters, Berlin, Future Days, Faust IV, For Girls who grow Plump, Quadrophenia, Houses Of the Holy, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Angelīs Egg, Raw Power...

I am still thinking 1971 was better year in prog and music commonly, but my birthyear was also quite a year.

Walkin' and Cookin' 'Round About Midnight with Bags' Groove in 1957 witnessed the Birth of Cool that was Miles Ahead of any other year before or since. However, since I have no love of jazz and find brass instruments to be disagreeable that means little to me thou' it's nice that Mr Davis recognised my birth with a suitable album title.
