I'm so happy that you put Steely Dan there. They don't get enough Recognition.
1. Steely Dan (Excellent musicianship, I love their unique Jazz/rock approach, and their bass grooves are awesome)
2. The Police (Awesome vocals, awesome groove, wikid band)
3. Jimi Hendrix
4. Led Zepplin
5. The Beatles

i was going to comment on how well you did to please mostpeople with the variety of bands to choose from, yet pink floyd was neglected, so, naturally, i'm grumpy.

Nirvana?? Red Hot Chili Peppers??? Heck, I like some of Beck's tunes, but I wouldn't place him on an 'All Time' poll. And the flippin' Eagles? I won't vote since my fave bands aren't up there.

You've forgotten about Creedence! No-one else played rock'n'roll as powerfully and sencere as Creedence, IMO.
BTW, about half of mentioned bands hardly canb classified as Rock'n'Roll bands...

How can you people vote beatles? They were a childish boy group POP band of the sixties, something like spice girls. Is "love me do" or "help" even close to rock and roll?Where are rock and roll gods like Deep Purple, Creedence and Cream?Anyway, from the existing i vote Jimi Hendrix.

That's a rather ignorant comment, no offence. I assume you have not listened to much of the Beatles? I find most people who consider them merely a 'pop' band just aren't familiar with what they were really about. Sure they have plenty of catchy pop tunes which I happen to like very much, but look closer and you will find some very innovative and extremely well written music. Not even close to the Spice girls...... |
The Beatles were very light weight IMO. We all live in a Yellow Submarine>nuff said? I heard that Ringo wrote most of their best tunes, but it was John&Paul who took all the credit.

I'm soo into alternative, but The Jesus And Mary Chain is just too raunchy to be in the same top with The Beatles

If I could do the list again, I probably would replace
Beck with Van Halen, forgot them.
I know the Allman Bros., Creedence, CSN, Neil
Young, Bob Dylan, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top aint there,
but I tried to include bands with impact in the 80s
and 90s for the younger people. To get feedback
from all.
Deep Purple, The Kinks, Alice Cooper on and on but
I tried to fit it in 20 slots.
