Just heard about Neil. Very sad news. He's one of the best ever drummers and lyricists. He will be missed by me big time. RIP Neil.

What sh*tty news.   I feel so bad for him, and his family & friends.   He was a brave man, saw and did so much, and gave us a great musical legacy on top of all that.

I hope he's sailing through the cosmos having a great time.

I just found out about Neil Peart as a vid with the news popped up on YouTube. Cancer sucks. Rest in peace, Neil.

I didn't realize he was ill either, so it came as a shock to me.  Very sad.  One of my favorite musicians (my favorite drummer) and lyricists.  At least I was lucky enough to see him and Rush live several times.  He was far too young too.  I know he was an atheist, and I'm an agnostic myself, but part of me hopes he's reunited with his wife and daughter somewhere, somehow.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

The absolute best rock drummer of all time imo. I was so sad to read this news this morning and haven't felt as depressed since my hero Keith Emerson passed away. RIP Neil.

Oh dear - Neil Peart. 67 is waaaay too young to expect this. My Heart goes out to all his loved ones and family and for the greater ‘real’ music’ community. Unbelievable. Incredibly sad news.

well, what an unpleasant shock to wake up to.

I watched the Rush docu-movie on Netflix the other day, and thoroughly enjoyed watching interviews with Peart, an extremely reserved man, who also happened to be perhaps the finest exponent of drumming to have graced our particular corner of progressive rock.

RIP.

Post again in this thread also.

One of the best and influential drummers in the rock world.
Read his book, Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road, a year or two ago.  Good read and insight into the man.

RIP Neil and thanks

On another forum it has been confirmed by several. As well I read in other cities there were some road signs bidding him farewell....
So far (I think), Washington Post has put out 3 write ups about Neil. I read one last night from the Times-Picayune in New Orleans, it was a really nice article.

Also if you have not heard, Carl Palmer seems posted some thoughts and there was some question as to him being respectful of Neil. Then the interviewer re-posted with the questions and it makes it a bit better, but overall Carl did not come across well at all. LOL

I can post if people are interested.
