I adore "River Man", so if you'll take it, I'm happy with that. I didn't know it until a few years ago.

If you have a little-known song in mind that you like as much as Riverman, okay. But if you prefer to keep Riverman, no problem.

^ Perhaps I should go for something more obscure then. ^ EDIT: Okay, great! Though I'd entitle it "River Man" rather than "Riverman" despite how the youtube vid names it.

Hi,

Removed ... the posting was more about the style that was never really developed because too many "fans" think they own the music!

I have about 15 things I wanted to post, but thought something that is left behind, and much more important would make better sense ... I've totally lost interest ... and I was invited. Sorry JB

Moshkito,
The spirit of this interactive poll is that PA members will be able to listen to one of our favorite songs they probably don't know (that's why I said not to choose prog/proto-prog/progrelated song here in PA).
And then to vote, and see who gets the most votes.

It's a way to share some of our favorite songs. Maybe someone will discover some artists he didn't know and who might like them very much.

------------

To Logan:

Riverman is fit!

I was going to suggest Nick Drake's "River Man",but while not in PA, I do consider it to be Prog Folk related. If you think that fits, you can add it.

Otherwise, Cat Stevens "Trouble" is a favourite of mine and I would just as happily see that as my choice (even if Cat Stevens is rather Prog Folk related).

Perhaps my link should be direct off Mona Bone Jakon, but to me that song is so heavily associated with Harold & Maude and that makes it so poignant to me.

A lot of things I want to add here, but Uli Trepte probably deserves a bit more history and appreciation, although some of the reviews simply want to hear ... just another song ... and the early days of Uli and then band Guru Guru were anything but about a "song" ... it was all a monster trip!

I still find this incredible, and along with YETI, and TAGO MAGO, probably the best and most incredible albums of those days and its history ... incredible work and concentration on getting these things done, and how they came out. There is another version on a Live CD from 1971, I think, that is even better.

I'm not sure that this could be done with another bass player or guitar person ... and there are no words for Mani's performances in those days.

This is the kind of thing that most bands are afraid of ... music that goes ... heaven knows where, but lives so beautifully ... no lyrics necessary!

Hi,

Removed ... not interested in the poll with the incorrect spirit ....  I posted something because that "style" has never really been developed and it was because of one person or two, and Guru Guru happens to be a part of it, but Uli did a lot of shows on his own by himself.

Lost interest in the poll due to fascist opinions!

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

THE SHOES: Time is What I Need

Not a Prog, Prog-Related or Proto-Prog band. Nevertheless, this 1969 song, that I always have returned to during some 46 years, is one of the best Proto-Prog songs I have ever heard.

Now we could invite other friends to join us and suggest new songs.

Wait! It's not time to vote!

We hope to add other songs!

We'll wait until... Monday night that somebody suggest other songs.
