BTW, I know about the duplication:
It will be fixed soon by admins. I've made a lot of corrections/additions on the first one.

^ Sorry for that duplication - there was no album there when I began filling out my own addition.
![]() http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=61709: This DVD concert is also available as 2CDs, so maybe needs track times adding? These are from Discogs: Part 1 (The Visitor) 1. A Crack In The Ice (7:25) 2. Pins And Needles (2:46) 3. Double Vision (4:33) 4. Elea (2:59) 5. The Hanging Tree (7:31) 6. A State Of Grace (3:42) 7. Blood Red Room (1:22) 8. In The Blink Of An Eye (5:22) 9. (Don’t Forget To) Breathe (5:25) 10. Serenity (2:52) 11. Tears In the Rain (5:03) 12. Enemy Without (5:06) 13. Running From Damascus (4:17) 14. The Visitor (7:12) Total Time 65:35 Part 2 15. Poisoned (5:05) 16. Jericho (7:39) 17. Mirror Lies (8:44) 18. Tinder Box (4:01) 19. Solomon (15:05) 20. Ascension (5:12) 21. Crying For Help VII (6:12) Total Time 51:58 The total times I have given are just the separate times from discogs added together - the actual overall time may be slightly longer. |

Every source I can find online cites this album as a 1981 release, including the release information on the ProgArchives page itself (Polish Wikipedia says 1980 but the source the cite FOR 1980, RYM, says 1981 as well).

^ Well, I'm not an expert, but I see 1980 on many pages also:
Amazon: December 20, 1980 pl.wikipedia.org: 1980 www.musicwaves.fr: 1980 ... for examples. So... what's the truth ?

Not sure about Amazon or MusicWaves, but the Polish Wikipedia cites RYM for the 1980 date, and RYM says 1981, so I don't exactly consider that a reliable indication of it being a 1980 release. Personally I'd run with the Discogs date but I understand it's not quite clear.

I tried to find one and was unsuccessful; however, I found more sources listing the year as 1980, so I guess it should stay as is.

^^ LP cover doesn't show the release year, not a rare case for Polish LPs. According to some CDs info, the album was recorded in February 1980, so most likely 1980 is a correct release date.

http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=42894 They belong under separate page completely The Prog Collective is the name of the band of Billy and the same way PA doesn't have Porcupine Tree under Steven Wilson page or Jethro Tull under Ian Anderson or Genesis under Steve Hackett and so on... The Prog Collective 3rd album "Worlds on Hold" is coming soon with many big names (Steve Hackett, Todd Rundgren, Martin Barre, Steve Hillage, Roine Stolt, Geoff Downes, Jon Davison, Patrick Moraz, Jan Akkerman, Arjen Lucassen and more!)

From the band's archived official website: https://web.archive.org/web/20030804032712/http://www.sbb.pl/sbb/his3.html (google-translated): Already as a quartet, SBB appeared in 1979, incl. at the Pop Session and in Sala Kongresowa in Warsaw (where he illustrated his performance with an avant-garde film), and in the next one he recorded (with the participation of bluesman Jan Skrzek) an album entitled "Memento z banalnym tryptykiem", which, although stylistically different from the beginning of the group's activity, amazed with its freshness and ingenuity in the choice of means of artistic expression. The "Trójkącie Radości" was dominated by Piwowar's acoustic guitar, "Strategia pulssu" had a fast jazz rock pulse (both of the above-mentioned songs were composed by Skrzek's partners), and in the finale of the title track Anthimos showed an amazing solo - nevertheless, the basic character of the collection was determined by Skrzek's extensive compositions, including the title suite that covers the entire page of the vinyl edition. Another thing is that thanks to the wealth of means of expression, "Memento z banalnym tryptykiem" was the band's best Polish album since their debut. Yet another, that when the album was released in 1981, SBB did not exist anymore, it was dissolved in November '80 due to - as the leader put it - "material fatigue". Skrzek:"At the end of 1980, we went on a tour to Germany and went there smiling and in good spirits. Nobody talked about the fact that we were breaking up. There was a breakdown on this tour." Apostolis Antymos recalls: "The years spent at SBB were great, but at the end we had enough of each other, we were tired. There was no point in dragging it". This next page will confirm that the actual recording of the album was carried out in the Polish Radio Studio in Opole, February 1980: https://web.archive.org/web/20030704040444/http://www.lesniczowka.art.pl/skrzek/memento.htm. It seems likely that the original vinyl LP by Polskie Nagrania (SX 1966) might have been finished as far as manufacturing was concerned in 1980, but due to the band breaking up, its actual release didn't happen until after the dust had settled in 1981.

Mayer, please make some explanations. Now all Prog Collective albums are in Billy Sherwood discography, he also participated in 2020 "Worlds on Hold" album. I expect it to be added to Billy's discography. If you'd like to have a separate entry for Prog Collective we need to contact Crossover Team. I don't know what's better because I'm not familiar with Prog Collective history. If Billy Sherwood is the driving force of this project it's OK to have their albums in his discography. If Billy is only a one of the members (we see bigger names in Prog Collective), it's worth to have a separate entry on PA.

This review on PA is probably helpful, as it shows why The Prog Collective albums were changed from VA to Billy Sherwood’s name. The situation is nothing at all like that of Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson, etc. “ First of all, there was absolutely no reason to list both The Prog Collective albums here on Prog Archives as 'various artists'. Both are definitively not what we call V/A, but de facto Billy Sherwood's solo albums with a lot of guest contributors. Not a prog band sensu stricto, while also not 'various artists', but... the prog collective (sic!). It seems to be as an artist name so the most appropriate definition. A collective of musical associates and like-minded professionals led by one of them who produced a bunch of musical ideas. The Prog Collective is even not a sort of so-called supergroup but just Sherwood with a little help from a lot of his superstar friends. All the music was composed and mostly played by him, other participants only added some vocal and instrumental parts. Sherwood played keyboards on Open Your Eyes (which is probably not good enough as a Yes album but a very good example of progressive pop). But the music in The Prog Collective's self-titled debut is not similar to Open Your Eyes, it rather reminds the studio material from Keys To Ascension. Not too complex, not too sophisticated, quite accessible, listenable and enjoyable. This album can faintly be rated as masterpiece, but it makes an excellent asset for anyone who's into prog and not stuck in 1970s.” |

^ I've found about 125 more of these "FLAC download - bandcamp.com" album pages from a couple of quick searches. Do you want me to post the list of them somewhere - either here or in a pm to yourself or Eugene?
