Went with Yes, followed by Genesis, Eloy, Rush, and Peter Gabriel. Nice selection.

Picked Melt from this list. Although my favourite from 1980 is probably Talking Heads' Remain in Light.

No Remain In Light.  The one album I'd have had to think over had it been pitted against Permanent Waves.

Out of these I'll choose Queen - The Game.

I have other favourites from that year.
David Bowie - Scary Monsters
The Clash - Sandinista!
The Police - Zenyatta Mondatta
Talking Heads - Remain in Light

Or from Denmark: Kliché - Supertanker:

I only one I own is the Black Sabbath so I'll vote for that.

Much like Trane my personal favorites would be

Eskaton - 4 Visions
Zamla Mammaz Manna - Familjesprickor
Art Zoyd - Generation Sans Futur
Present - Triskaidekaphobie
Ian

Queen for nostalgic reasons. Iron Maiden and Rush close behind.

I have a fondness for British Steel too. It was the first JP album I brought, although I much preferred Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith at the time, but these days British Steel is the album I go back to. You don't have to be old to be wise is an absolute classic!
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I've given Eloy a vote...

I like these six, but only the album on top would be featured if I made a poll containing my 25 personal favorites of the year.

Roxy Music - Flesh + Blood
Thin Lizzy - Chinatown
Iron Maiden - s/t
Peter Gabriel - Melt
Casiopea - Make Up City
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell

-I'm not sure why I enjoy Flesh + Blood so much. It's hardly anyone's favorite, and in their whole discography only Manifesto is considered weaker. Two lazy cover versions (I still like them both) and all, I love it just as much, if not more than Avalon.
