Spot on description of the album. I listened to Mellow Gold and Odelay a lot back when they came out. Must return to them again asap.

My listening:

Van Der Graaf Generator - World Record
Peter Hammill - Clutch

I only have up until Seeds Of Love by Tears For Fears. Is it worth exploring any further? I’ve thought about Raoul a couple of times but never quite got around to actually purchasing him. That was a nice sentence eh
Thanks for the reminder btw. I gotta get myself a cd copy of Hijack. It’s been a long time since I last span that.

Yesterday:
Beck - Odelay (Yes! Hah...so strange actually. I really liked what I heard from Beck back in the mid 90s..yet never bought any of his albums(?). Tower of Power - Bump City
Gorillaz - Song Machine | Season One (I’m really getting into these guys...again a couple of decades later on)
David Bowie - Tin Machine
The Orb - COW // Chill Out World
Xploding Plastix - The Donca Matic Singalongs
Ulver - Flowers Of Evil (Gotta admit I find these recent “pop albums” of Ulver’s extremely alluring. It’s still Ulver but more..80s romantic and electronic altogether)

Hi Dave! In regards to Tears For Fears I have to say it is not worth exploring past 1989’s Sowing The Seeds.
TFF are an incredible 80’s band. 3 incredible albums.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Black Sabbath— Paranoid (live in Montreux 1970. )
Mastodon— Crack The Skye. ( I like it. Pretty proggy too. )
Clan Of Xymox— Medusa ( absolutely love it. Even better than their debut from 1984. )
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Hiram: Thanks man. I had a blast with Beck this weekend spinning both Mellow Gold and Odelay...and Sea Change. The latter seems so much more ‘adult’ and singersong writer based.

Nick: That’s basically your taste against Steve’s...now who is the tastiest? I guess we’ll find out in Tastebuds Galore: The Tournament! Heh Nahh...but I think I may check out jootoob first though.

I was working all day yesterday...on a saturday
...but managed to get some albums in when I got home..straight on into the night actually:

Beck - Mellow Gold
Beck - Sea Change
Soft Machine - Seven
Soft Machine - Three
Amon Düül - Meetings With Menmachines (The UK based variant with Dave Anderson and John Weinzierl)
Miles Davis - Sketches Of Spain
Tower Of Power - s/t
The Flaming Lips - Embryonic
Colosseum - Valentyne Suite (The title track is one of the rare occasions where a word like ‘orgasmic’ really fits for some reason. The drums alone justify this)

- Focus - Focus 11 (didn't outright annoy me unlike most of their post-2000 output but still not up to the old standards)
- Ekseption - Beggar Julia's Time Trip (novel for the time probably, but I don't think this has aged too well)
- Dixie Dregs - Dregs Of The Earth (decent; a bit more filler than I'd like)
- The Move - Message From The Country (actually a lot better than I remember, although it still feels like a "rehearsal" for the first ELO album)
- Bobby Hutcherson - Dialogue (A treat! Really excellent Dolphy-ish avant-jazz)
