Yes, absolutely, analysis is NOT a requirement.
I know I still need to decide which one is my nomination and am just having a hard time of it, this round.  Still mulling.

^ But your analyses are pure delight! Thank you for that! BTW, you and Lewian liked my "evil" song better. I might nominate it instead. Ah the dark side, so bewitching! Evil Smile

So I have to decide, do I pick the song I like the best, or do I pick the one that I think others will like the best. Hmmm, it is a pickle.

My nomination goes to...

I Mother Earth - Levitate

^ Well, nice and all but I made it very clear that we all have to notify this in our original posts. This is because, sometimes people share songs in 4-5 different posts and comments like yours above can be hard to notice. Plus, one says his/her nomination is this/that in his original post, another does like you. Ultimate chaos! Anyway, this happens to all of us, I think. I'll take notes instead. Do however you like.

Say what now??
I'm supposed to edit my original post by deleting the videos I don't want and only leave the one I do?
And you'll do the rest being the all magical wizard you purport to be? What if I have a bad aura that day? Would that taint my mojo enough to be rendered invisible to the masses?

Thanks for listening so attentively:) - I sort og collect things-or tunes like these, and pretty much just posted the first two tunes that popped in to my head. But of course because I love them.

Btw, this one is rather special:

No! Just add a note by editing, like "This is my nomination:" upon your nominated song/video. You don't have to delete anything! If one's nominated song is not in his original post, s/he adds the note and the video. No need to delete anything!

Don't worry. I'll not punish anybody for not doing that! LOLWink

@Lorenzo: I had heard the Modena City Ramblers before but I like this more than what I already know. Nice use of folk elements. I had bought the Guccini album when you brought him up last time. It seems Italy has changed a lot in the last 50-100 years probably more than most other European countries? Lou Reed is also quality stuff, no decision support here...
@George: Nice to see that magic number 3 thing, not necessarily voting material but great use of an out of competition entry.
@Mike: I'm a proper Mick Karn fan and love that one, but know it of course. The BOc one doesn't do much for me, I hadn't heard Ulver and this is very nice and moody, but not sure if this can count as it's on PA.
@Cristi: I'm not a fan of all too straight rock music, but this is surely played with lots of feeling.
@Dr Wu: The Searchers one is fun but I know it already. I like Donovan a bit more than Steppenwolf but there isn't much between them.

Joan Baez was the second concert I attended, at $2.50 a seat, believe it or not, in those days she didn't charge any more than that.

I'd not heard this, but did recognize immediately the orchestral style by Peter Schickele, who used the pseudonym P.D.Q. Bach.  He used to have a show on public radio that was quite interesting.

Thank you, I might like to further investigate this album, as there is a lot of material on it of interest.Smile

One of my bonus songs is Three Is A Magic Number. It's a cover and from a series of cartoons I watched as a child growing up in the 70s. It's also very American so I am wondering how many of you in this thread know about it.

Description from Wikipedia:

Quote Schoolhouse Rock! is an American interstitial programming series of animated musical educational short films (and later, videos) that aired during the Saturday morning children's programming block on the U.S. television network ABC. The themes covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics. The series' original run lasted from 1973 to 1984; it was later revived with both old and new episodes airing from 1993 to 1996.

It was during the 90s revival that a cover album by various rock artists was recorded and released. The Blind Melon cover version was the best in my opinion. I think any child who watched TV in the 70s in the US has Schoolhouse Rock! firmly ingrained in his or her psyche.

Here's the original.

And a bit more on it's development.

Quote The series was the idea of David McCall, an advertising executive of McCaffrey and McCall, who noticed his young son was struggling with learning multiplication tables, despite being able to memorize the lyrics of many Rolling Stones songs. McCall hired musician Bob Dorough to write a song that would teach multiplication, which became "Three Is a Magic Number."

I certainly remember the series, although I was too old for it when it came out.  We all thought it was great, though, for kids.

My first introduction to U.S. government was from those cartoons. This may be one of the best known tunes from the government ones.

This has had many parodies, including this one from the Simpsons.

And Family Guy.

Haven't been able to listen to anything yet - I was mostly locked up in an editing room this last week - but I will try to catch up. My nomination is mentioned in my first post and doesn't change...

Actually, I have to confess something, but sssht... don't tell anyone else. This is the only Nena album I have - and I really like it! - and I know some of her later hits, but that 's it. So, if my pretended enthusiasm should be a defining principle for "fandom", I guess Nena would be very disappointed - and she doesn't deserve that. But since you were also thinking of this song, this shows how much of an "impact" she has had on our youth... Wink

Kees:  Nena “Zaubertrick”  The always-recognizable Nena here, doing some magic, 80’s style.  Poppy and bright, with punchy and keys going from shimmery to polka-dotty and back.  Some whangy bass and those electronic drums keep the beat and at he end, she has a wicked little laugh.  Les Rita Mitsouko “La sorcière et l'inquisiteur”  Live performance here, love the start with an eerie vocal and keyboards to match, setting the tone.  This one has a bit of the feel of an Oriental orchestra, but with a sort of operatic vocal.  Love the lyrics and that the witch enchanted her would-be torturer.  Very dramatic performance.  Catherine Ringer & Iggy Pop “I Put A Spell On You”  I, too, did think of the Screamin’ Jay Hawkins tune.  Given the full treatment in a live setting, what great fun this is as a duet.  It looked to me as though she had heterochromia, from the first video you showed, interesting that Iggy would work with another artist with these different coloured eyes.

Thanks for your assessment, Nickie, always a pleasure to read! Just regarding Catherine Ringer's eyes: she uses lenses to create those effects, but in reality she just has two similar brown eyes (shows how serious she is in approaching her performances... She really is a true stage performer/artist, and a brilliant singer, imo...).

As I mentioned in my first posting for this thread, Mick Karn is my nomination as I know the other two are in PA and my intention from the beginning was to nominate Mick Karn.  Just wanted to clear that up.
