Other than Meddle/Atom Heart Mother by Pink Floyd, Stormcock is probably my favorite album of all time. I've always been curious to see how the tracks would hold up side by side like this and I really have no idea what the general consensus about this album on PA is so I think this should be pretty interesting. If I had to guess just based on personal taste it will probably be close between Old Rock and My Woman but I'd rather just throw the whole album into a poll and see what happens.

For me, it's between "Same Old Rock" and "Me and My Woman."

"Same Old Rock." Prefer the live "Me and My Woman" off "Flashes From the Archives of Oblivion"

The one featuring the guest guitar playing of the great S. Flavius Mercurius. (Same old rock.)

Wow,  haven't heard this album in a long time, but it's a good one. --I'll have to go back and hear it again before voting.

I was about to answer, until I realised I was thinking of 'Stormbringer' by John and Beverley Martyn, from about a year before.

Don't really know him or this album. I had lifemask a long time ago on cd though(mainly due to the cover being in "the progressive rock files" book). I'll need to rediscover at some point. Apparently this is his most well known and respected album.

Oh, I've heard his voice. I chose 'When an Old Cricketer Leaves the Crease' for my dad's funeral.

Bump.

Inspired by recent solo artist polls, I figured it's time to check out this Roy Harper. I started with Stormcock and boy I'm glad I did. Voted for the Same Old Rock, but I like it all.

Which album next?

I love pretty much everything Roy has done but i'll comfortably accept that for some people, some filters have to be applied when exploring his work; like the man himself the music and lyrics can go from mercurial and sublime to frustrating and baffling.
I cant pick 'one' favorite from Stormcock and i'd recommend Lifemask next or Bullinamingvase..

The Same Old Rock is the one. Follow that up with One Man Rock and Roll Band.

None. The whole album is a masterpiece. One of those rare albums that creates a mood from its first track and then extends it with genuinely inspired, completely unpredictable, and yet somehow inevitable logic.
