A-Z Playlist of Easy Listening Adult Contemporary Traditional Pop 2

THE MIKE FLOWERS POPS        Featured here once already, the Mike Flowers Pops are an easy listening sixties throwback band who sound like they're straight out of an Austin Powers movie, having been loosely based on the sixties Sunshine Pop sensations Harpers Bizarre. This is A Groovy Place to be. Smile

4 stars 1996: The Mike Flowers Pops - A Groovy Place - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1xm0HhIaKcGPzzgyiM2qgFdsRc45BGHr

MAUREEN EVANS      Welsh songstress Maureen Evans may have narrowly missed out on being the British entry for the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1963, but no one loves her Like I Do. Heart Smile

NICK DECARO      An acclaimed American arranger, producer, musician, singer & songwriter in the Smooth Jazz genre who I've been searching for on and off for the past ten years, mainly on account of me mistakenly searching for "Nick Castro" who turns out to be a different artist altogether. Anyway, I'm glad I finally found him, which makes me Happier Than the Morning Sun. Star

THE CARAVELLES      A sweet-as-sugar English female duo named after a French aircraft, The Caravelles had the honour of being the first British act ever to break into the US Billboard Top 40, lifting off with their first hit single "You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry" in 1964, beating Cliff Richard by just two weeks and the Beatles by three weeks, although Cliff had been praying to break into the American market for the last five years. Smile

HONOR BLACKMAN    An actress and singer famous for her Kinky Boots and with a voice almost as husky as Eartha Kitt's earthy tones, Honor Blackman was leather-clad Cathy Gale in The Avengers and Pussy Galore in Goldfinger and it's an honor to feature her here. I like it, even if no one else does. Besides, it's only the album cover images that are artificially created. The music's real enough.  Smile

You really think so? That boxed vocals sure sounds nothing like the real deal to my ears. It does however sound like other AI music I've heard.

Well, I can honestly say that's the first AI music I've ever heard (or even heard of), but I'm rapidly going off it now, having just discovered today that it wasn't created by real singers and musicians. Ouch

At least I learnt something new today though, just as I do every day here at ProgArchives. Smile

Obviously, I knew the band images were artificially created, but I didn't know AI was so advanced now that artificial music could be created too, at least up until today. Embarrassed

I like fun (within reason) and do generally believe in focusing on and showing our appreciation for those posts and things we like than that which we don't, but I f'ing hate the AI stuff. A lot of it I find highly morally objectionable and in very bad taste and I find it worrisome. I think it's disrespectful to "real" artists and potentially very harmful. It's being used in really bad and harmful ways. And AI has affected my job badly. I'd happily see a ban on it at the forum, and would like to see more regulation of it. I support boycotting it.
I had no idea the music was created by Artificial Intelligence too (in addition to the pictures) until Cristi mentioned it earlier. I didn't even know that was possible, which makes me feel really old now and out of touch with the modern age. Embarrassed

THE DEEP PURPLES IN ROCK      Not to be left out, here's the last of the Big 3 lounge acts - ostensibly from the 1950's - when members of "The Deep Purples" were no doubt still in short trousers, but then again, the original song Deep Purple was a 1930's tune much beloved by Roger Glover's mum. Smile

THE LED ZEPPELINS      I have a Whole Lotta Love for this recently-discovered lounge music and dinner-jacketed version of  Led Zeppelin ostensibly recorded in the 1950's. Unleaded Zeppelin maybe. Smile

THE BLACK SABBATHS        Easy listening Black Sabbath as you've never heard them before. This is what they'd sound like if Paranoid had been recorded in the 1950's, and Yes, that really is "The Black Sabbaths" on the "album cover". Yeah, Fairies Wear Boots, You gotta believe me, And I tell you no lies. Smile
