The song just grates on me - definitely the worst thing Roger ever composed (IMO) while he was still in the band. By the time they recorded Saucerful; his songwriting had improved immensely.

If you can swing a beer stein back and forth whilst singing, it’s a sea shanty. Geddy Lee’s bass line is difficult but that’s just what I hear. ![]() Edited by Jaketejas - 21 hours 55 minutes ago at 21:39 |

I love the WHO… Squeeze Box is a turd
![]() KC is my favorite Band… bude, potato pie, oyster soup, and the entire thrakattakc album are a joke… right? PINK FLOYDs psych breakfast and furry animals and a pict or whatever… I skip over when I can. Procol Harum (great band) “Bringing home the bacon” lyrics are awful. Music is good. I recently went on a full discography listen of the moody blues. Some great classic tracks, songs that are legendary… surrounded by some real clunkers on almost every album. It may well be that had this been the first track I heard from an unknown band, I'd have said that this is OK and there's so much worse out there. But from the mighty Tangerine Dream? Expectations expectations... ![]() |

I can agree with these (and add KC's Fracture to the bunch):
But not with this:

It was a slight remix of the title track of White Eagle. I don't think it brought them anywhere near as much moola as scoring for the big US flicks like Risky Business (Edgar initially turned it down because he read the script and thought it sucked but then took the gig at his agent's behest — he asked for more money and the studio agreed.) I'm surprised you dislike it that much. It's a little on the vanilla side, but it's hardly the worst thing they ever recorded. I don't dislike anything recorded by that particular line-up, but diff'rent strokes, as they say. ![]() P.S. The other Tatort tracks they supplied were brilliant! ![]() |

Saga — too many songs to list that were recorded between Heads or Tales (1983) and Full Circle (1999).

"Neurotica" and "You Bet Your Life" are two of the worst songs Rush ever recorded. "Faithless" is another one. "Virtuality" isn't too hot, either.
Now that's crazy talk. ![]() Edited by verslibre - 19 hours 4 minutes ago at 00:30 |

Some low hanging fruit
ELP - Jeremy Bender (the very definition of 'hasn't aged well') Yes - Circus Of Heaven (yuk!) Genesis - Battle of Epping Forest (how can this be the longest track on this album?!) Rick Wakeman - The Breathalyser (just not funny) King Crimson - Indiscipline (I hate the whole album but this is the sh*t cherry a top of the sh*tty cake for me) IQ - Colourflow (just way too much into 80's pop for me) |

Even if one ignores "bonus tracks" and low-hanging fruit ("Are You Ready Eddy") that are continuously mentioned on this site, it's also not hard to come up with a substantial list:
Steve Hackett: "The Hermit", "Ballad of the Decomposing Man" Pink Floyd: "Free Four" John Wetton: "Be Careful What You Wish For" Styx: "First Time" Barclay James Harvest: "Suicide?" Queen: "Get Down Make Love" Peter Gabriel: "This is the Picture (Excellent Birds)" Kansas: "No Room for a Stranger", "Secret Service" Manfred Mann's Earth Band: "Resurrection" Supertramp: "Babaji" Rush: "Turn the Page", "Witch Hunt", "Tears", "Cygnus X-1" Alan Parsons Project: "Since the Last Goodbye" Moody Blues: "House of Four Doors", most of the Octave album Saga: "Alone Again Tonight", "Don't Put Out the Fire" Genesis: "Jesus He Knows Me", "Tell Me Why", "Living Forever", "The Waiting Room" Yes: "Rhythm of Love", "Almost Like Love" Asia: "Finger on the Trigger", "Emily", "I Will Remember You" Edited by Steve Wyzard - May 05 2025 at 17:57 |

Tangerine Dream hadn't done much wrong up until 1982, when they made a soundtrack for "Das Maedchen auf der Treppe", an episode of Tatort, a popular series of whodunnits in Germany. That single with the title track actually charted in Germany, so it brought them some money, which is fair enough, but it was the most boring TD track by some distance I had heard at that point, and I still don't like it (they went mostly downhill from there for quite some time, unfortunately). Chances are this is one of these things that works well as a soundtrack but not on its own (my way of explaining why this was a success after all). It's actually a remix of some material from White Eagle, which is pretty good but takes enough time to let the music develop.

I could make a list of Genesis songs I dislike, but that would be Many Too Many. ![]() |

Maybe I just don’t get it … but Neurotica by Rush.
I would rather do an all day marathon of just Tai Shan, which is actually a nice song, than listen to Neurotica. I’m not a fan of Driven either. It sounds like a sea shanty on steroids. And Roll the Bones … no thank you. I really like Rush up to Hold Your Fire and I like Counterparts and smatterings here and there. |
