Choose your favorite version of the RIO classic composed by Sir Roger Trigaux.

I choose the second one.

Herésie‘s for me.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Univers Zéro for me. The dark, gothic, rainsoaked streets and dense atmosphere isn't as strong in Present's more guitarcentric and "rockin" version. The strings, horns and keyboard-arrangement of the original is just so much more evocative to me. But I'm predisposed to prefer the Chamber Rock approach of early UZ over almost any kind of "Avant Rock".

I'd have to re-listen to these two versions of Jack The Ripper which I will do.
I know the UZ version quite well but forget the Present one. In fact that Present album and the UZ record from the same period "Clivages" are two albums I feel I need to re-visit and get to know better.

It has to be the UZ version for sheer atmosphere. (Not sure how many will engage with this poll!)

UZ for me. Both excellent.

I was on my phone and wish I had not answered so tersely, but I would not have been able to express myself so well. "Well, duh!" some might say. And as Rick mentions, it's the atmosphere that appeals to much to me. I commonly go for atmospheric music. Heresie's "Jack the Ripper" is one of my most appreciated pieces of music. I love early Univers Zero (especially the first three albums). I used to listen to Present more.

Present. I like the smell of this forum on Tuesdays.

UZ - Heresie for me. Present's version is excellent, but I prefer the eldritch atmosphere of the largely acoustic UZ version.
