What bands...

...have a best solo works from your members???

Maybe you want to edit the title so that it's clear what the thread is about?

Anyway, as some know around here I'm a big fan of much of the Can members solo works. Holger Czukay has some absolutely outstanding albums (with Canaxis 5 and Movies groundbreaking when it comes to non-digital sampling), Irmin Schmidt has a great discography, Jaki Liebezeit has his hand in a lot of good music, some with his name on it (if not totally solo), Damo Suzuki has done nice improvised stuff, and even the Michael Karoli solo album is interesting.

Of course there are more bands that qualify, but let's see what others come up with.

I know you're not a fan of Open Your Eyes, so I'm guessing you're primarily thinking of Billy Sherwood, who came last in a recent Billy Sherwood poll - which I couldn't resist mentioning again.

I like too a couple of albums by an artist who has played in the Chinese Cool Zone / Cold Fairyland, and that is:

Lin Di - Ten Days in Magic Land (2003)
Lin Di - Bride in Legend (2004)

I was gonna mention Yes, but then I thought it was too obvious and overdone of an example so I decided not to. xD

If trying an inter-subjective answer, I can suggest to have a look at say 500 highest-rated albums and see, which solo artists' works are the highest rated, and which bands they have been members of. Then one can try to figure out the answer to the OP's question. - A lot of work!

He is as proper solo artist as they come, but he was never in a band.

I think Magma as I enjoy solo works by: Didier Lockwood, Jannick Top, Bernard Paganotti, Laurent Thibault, Benoît Widemann, Patrick Gauthier, Jeff "Yochk’o" Seffer, Teddy Lasry (plus quite a few spin-off bands, if that counts) and probably more that I'm forgetting.

Return to Forever: Chick Corea, Joe Farrell, Airto Moreira, Lenny White, Bill Connors and others seem to like Al Di Meola + Stanley Clarke

Sort of. I'm not a fan of his solo stuff. But I could have included him as I did with Al De Meola.
