Some notes:

As I have done before, ones that I know I missed for earlier polls (arranged alphabetically) I add to the start of later ones. I added David Axelrod, who I had thought of before as I love his early albums, and even suggested him for PA, but not added for some reason. Horslips was mentioned by Barry Glibb recently. I have heard The Tain, but it's not a band that I have explored much. I added Egisto Macchi, which is not in PA, but I think a good addition (love Macchi). Definitely thought about adding him before, can't remember why I did not. Morricone is a favourite of mine and I wasn't going to add him at first despite having many relevant albums. I have not gone with his earliest this time (he has a ton) and have started with the RateYourMusic list without showing all (similar with Miles Davis). That said, if I continue with these, then I would add ones on RYM's list that are only visible if you choose "show all". One might find various "debuts" that are questionable, and some acts that are questionable, but for me these are all relevant acts, some more than others to be sure -- even though particular albums by acts may not be that suitable for a Prog poll as acts can be diverse across discographies.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Pain of Salvation - Entropia... aka the best debut album in the universe! Seriously, I'm impressed each time I listen to it! Shocked

I also voted for two other classic releases:
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells
Anthony Phillips - The Geese and the Ghost

Not sure about:
Ennio Morricone - For a Few Dollars More: very good, but is it his "first album" ?
Motorpsycho - Lobotomizer: great band! but bad debut album...
... so I'll wait before voting for them.

I went for Pendragon's debut - mainly because I saw them a number of times around its release and loved it.

No, that's what I meant by "These are the studio album debuts, or in couple of cases at least, early works..." (I was thinking of Morricone and Davis) and "Morricone is a favourite of mine and I wasn't going to add him at first despite having many relevant albums. That said, if I continue with these, then I would add ones on RYM's list that are only visible if you choose "show all." One could call it cheating, but I did try to show my hand.

My choices will be:

Egisto Macchi - Bioritmi
David Axelrod - Song of Innocence
Popol Vuh - Affenstunde
Nucleus - Elastic Rock
Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Regret not also giving Tales of Mystery and Imagination a vote, but when it comes to APP, I Robot is the one that is most special to me. EDIT: And Pentangle. This is one where five does not suffice for me.

Nice! I love a lot of Morricone - including the near mastepiece For a Few Dollars More, but his discography is sort of a mess.

Horslips - I have been teased for listening to a band by this name. People usually shut up after hearing them.
Nucleus - More traditional than the most J/R Fusion bands, but that makes no difference when they fire up.
Oldfield - Is there a more auspicious and audacious debut out there? I don't think so.
Alan Parsons Project - Where else can a guy who engineered both Abbey Road and Dark Side of the Moon go?
Anthony Philips - The beauty of the album cover is matched by the beauty of the album within.

The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"
