I grew up with the Zeppelin album so I have to vote there.

Didn't discover Genesis' classic albums until later

love both though!

Led Zep. Fell in love with The Battle of Evermore the first time I heard it when I was 16.

Epping Forest is the more complex tune by far, but that does not mean it is a better one.  I went with Evermore.

Led Zeppelin >>>>>>Genesis

Because LZ never fell into Pop Music. Besides, just "Battle of Epping Forest" is one of the weakest songs of Gabriel's era in Genesis...

That's a silly comment - Battle of Epping Forest is many things, but pop it ain'tConfused

I also voted for Zep in this one, but only because I think it's a far better piece of music.

Epping Forest is one of my favourite Genesis songs of all time. I don't know why it gets bashed so much. Half the stuff on the Lamb could'nt even compare to Epping Forest.

I like them both but don't love either. I won't vote.

Led Zep for me! The Battle of Evermore is a beautiful track, while Epping IMHO is the one stinker on SEBTP.
A GREAT YEAR FOR PROG!!!

Battle of Evermore by a long chalk, although Epping Forest has benefited considerably from digital remastering so that I now find it more or less listenable.

I didn't mean that Epping Forest or anything from Gabriel's era is Pop, I thought about 80's and 90's Genesis. Isn't it perhaps clear?

^ Like we need to be constantly reminded Genesis' pop years Ermm

I vote for the forest. Although Evermore is one of the better LZ tracks that doesn't get overplayed to death on the radio.

Love Epping Forest---it's bashed as being disjointed, but it's no more or less disjointed than the beloved Thick as a Brick IMO----
