I have the exact same issue, Rob. That's why La Rossa has always been the least loved track on Still Life for me... 'cause I cannot even get near it in terms of singing along.

1) it's better than Darkness 11/11, but not as good as The Undercover Man and perhaps Killer.

Darkness 11/11 is probably my third favourite VdGG song.   I prefer Lemmings as an opener to The Undercover Man. However, The Undercover Man and Scorched Earth coming second as the best first two tracks, after Lemmings and Man-erg.  Pilgrims is a wonderful opener to an album though.  Darkness 11/11 > Lemmings = Pilgrims > The Undercover Man
