Absolutely right - received a box of 7 promos very recently, the above albums are getting my immediate attention - but intend listening to the Indonesian band soon after. DFA recorded at NEARFEST was really good, so I expect to hear something special with the reissue of their first albums asa twoforone. Also a Phil Miller album with many Canterbury alumni contributing (one track with Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin).

I've always loved Steve Hillage's Fish Rising. Then i picked up Inner mountain flame from Mahavishnu Orchestra but found that one rather inaccessible so my forays into this genre stalled. Lately i picked up Elegant gypsy and got to listen to S.B.B's Memento .... also due to changes in the top 100 algorithm
![]() So my question here is, are the albums i like just very accessible albums of a genre that is harder to grasp generally or is Inner mountain just a more difficult album in this genre? I'm a bit surprised that this thread is not in the prog lounge btw, probably because besides Jazzrock/fusion also classical jazz is discussed. |

Planet X : Quantum - first album of their's I felt sounds like a full jazz rock album, rather than a heavy rock album with the occasional jazzy solo.
