Just listened to "The Death-Defying Unicorn" by Motorpsycho and that other guy.  Fascinating album.  I'd like to explore that band some more.

Well that album is very unique inside their discog, but it is a great band that mostly turns out great rock music with the slight prog nods from time to time. This one however is full on, and I really like it.

If you like 'the other' guy, then by all means check out Elephant9. Fusion whirlwind right there! The second album called Walk the Nile sports an incredible title track that incorporates a brilliant form of jazzy krautrock into the mix. I can't get enough of that track!
Also Supersilent another band of his is very much recommended. High on the experimental bits though.
Cool David, thanks for the tip.  I'd never even heard of these guys until a few weeks ago and they have like 15 albums.  Thanks for the background on the "other guy" too, I knew nothing about him.  I bought the album in part because you'd praised it so highly.  And the reviews on PA were very helpful too.
