HughesJB4, I've always wanted to dig NEUROSIS, and never much liked them. Some songs are superb (2004's album is the best in a whole, imho), and they're better than ISIS, RED SPAROWES and CULT OF LUNA in my book...but I think they're a lil bit overrated anyway

Coming from the guy who's only heard oceanic and CoL's debut... which I don't even own.

Seriously Igor, get Somewhere along the highway.

no-no-no, Ian, I reviewed only these two, but I heard all of them, including early demos and different collaborations I even have Eternal Kingdom on CD (my sister's present who heard I'm into such kind of music)

TIMER is amazing. Check "The Town The Fog" first, it's free there . Looks like an ordinary post-metal, but with TOOL touches added

I listened to their MySpace tracks. I'm ordering their album next paycheck.

Checked out Grails too, didn't do it for me on the first listen.

Also it's pretty hilarious that SiG's website claims they toured with dredge.

Anyone else have the Thursday / Envy split? It's pretty amazing. I didn't think Thursday could sound good.

I really need to get that one...I've read that Thursday's performance was really good. Ohh well I'm listening to them now for the first time.

Pat, what Envy album would you recommend most? Thay have a pretty big discography, and the thought of combining screamo with epic post rock sounds better all the time. I need a recommendation.

Insomniac Doze is probably their most acclaimed and the strongest on the post-rock side of the spectrum. However, right now I feel like their prior album Dead Sinking Story is the more solid effort overall. The vocals are more powerful on it .

I'd get it fast. The two genres seem to mesh perfectly. The soft/hard vocal dynamic of screamo with post-rock crescendos is orgasmic.

Also just got my Somewhere Along The Highway and listening now.

Ha, I actually find Thursday's War All the Time to be a good album, but their stuff on the split was startlingly good; I thought they were on their way out. Their new album drops in mid-February, and I'm quite interested in it now, thanks to the split.

Envy's side was great too. I'm really looking forward to their new disc as well.
