Today I am listening to my top albums of 2009 for no particular reason other than that I want to. So far I've listened to:
Colin Masson - The Mad Monk and the Mountain Beardfish - Destined Solitaire
Another little-known gem, this. Simon Steensland has been making music since the early '90s and this, his most recent album, caught my attention as soon as I heard the streaming track "The Queen of Sweden". Recently I've become re-interested in him and picked up a couple of his previous albums for sale on Wayside. I'm thinking of re-writing my review of this album and making it five stars. I really haven't heard anything else that sounds quite like this. Amazing stuff, but definitely more for avant-heads than your typical listener. Lots of odd notes used.

Today I am listening to my top albums of 2009 for no particular reason other than that I want to. So far I've listened to:
Colin Masson - The Mad Monk and the Mountain Beardfish - Destined Solitaire Simon Steensland - Fat Again
Like Simon Steensland, miRthkons album is released by AltRock. Because of the incredible quality of these two albums, I am buying all the new AltRock albums very soon. This one is heavier and jazzier than Simon Steensland, and perhaps a bit more playful. Still mostly for the avant-heads.
