Kinda cool, ain't it? 10's kick!

But then I can tell on basis of all "my" listing albums threads that I've noticed in general large degree of variety of the albums listed.

Actually, it has been pretty much the same way with my approach to movies and books, and music too, as I've wanted very much variation regarding styles, countries, periods of time, and not least bands/artists.

(Swans and maybe Sonar and William D. Drake could be in there with more than one had I not used the one album per artist rule.)

6 of those would have been in my next block, Swans. AZ, UZ, Sonar, William D Drake, a.P.A.t.T., I would also have had a 2nd Thinking Plague without applying the one album rule

Could be something like this:

Umberto - Prophecy of the Black Widow (2010)
Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool (2016)
Swans - The Glowing Man (2016)
Klaus Morlock - Penumbra (2016)
The Ilk - The New Dark Age (2014)
Secret Chiefs 3 / Ishraqiyun - Perichoresis (2014)
L' Albero del Veleno - Tale of a Dark Fate (2017)
Dead Can Dance - Anastasis (2012)
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard - Polygondwanaland (2017)
Kosmischer Läufer - The Secret Cosmic Music of the East German Olympic Program 1972-83: Volume One (2013)

But I've been outside "the prog bubble", and may have heard one or two out of all the albums Grumpyprogger posted + I think four of Nogbad's.

Thanks very much for this explanation, Grumpy. I find it very well-written and informative about your approach to music,
as well as to other things, so I understand it better now. It's also interesting to hear how the modern music can be thought of,
even by a person of an older age. I like as well the expression "resonates with me". Smile

Modern music resonates with me more than the music I listened to growing up in the 70's. I know I'm odd in this regard. Most prefer music they grew up with, but for me, there is more talent and variety of music now than there ever has been. I rarely listen to albums from my teenage years anymore. I've heard them so much they just don't have the impact they used to and I've grown tired of them. I need to move on and experience new tunes. This is true of any art, for me. I can't watch the same movie on repeat. Can't read the same book on repeat. Can't look at the same painting/sculpture on repeat. Can't eat the same meal on repeat. Can't drink the same ale on repeat.

I miss some things we did in the dinosaur age. We would have listening parties to check out new albums, devoting full attention to the music and discussing it afterwards. Music was a celebration back then, no leaks, and not instantly available on your phone. I can remember a few times we would camp outside the local record store just to be first in line when the store opened to buy a new album. But most change is good. The internet has been an endless source of music I would have never found and am grateful for that.

Cheers to good music Wink

You have certainly "felt free", Grumpy, or I could also say that you did it the Sean Trane way - and maybe even more.
But I know that you're very fond of the 10's, so of course there you go. Smile

With all the recent threads concerning the 2010's, there should be a really good basis for this one.

The 2010's are the decade from which I so far have found fewest albums I like,

but I'm sure it's not like that for everyone, and feel free to list more than 10.

Anyway, here's my list which is remarkably international:

Accordo dei Contrari  (I)  -  Kublai  (2011)

Ciccada  (Gre)  -  A Child In The Mirror  (2010)

Goat  (S) -  Commune  (2014)

Hypnos 69  (B)  -  Legacy  (2010)

Naxatras  (Gre)  -  Naxatras  (2015)

Swans  (USA)  -  To Be Kind  (2014)

Universal Totem Orchestra (I) - Mathematical Mother (2016)

Univers Zero  (B)  -  Clivages   (2010)

Vespero  (Rus)  -  By the Waters of Tomorrow  (2010)

Xing Sa  (F)  -  Creation De L’univers  (2010)

May Progressive Rock be with you! Tongue
