In 50 years of the Eurovision Song Contest, how come nobody ever thought of sending an instrumental band?

Exactly! It seems that most Finnish people would like to see another "Barbie Doll" prancing around the stage like a complete idiot. Lordi is not exactly something I would normally listen to, but at least they bring some colour to the overall very bland show.

Re Lordi:
I only know what I've read about them, here & in the papers; and if they're as much fun as they sound, I'm right behind them! "Finland; douze points" !! I also gather the bookies have shortened the odds on Lordi, but don't know offhand who the favourites are.

We were watching the semi-final yesterday just to have good laugh. 'Watching' is exactly the right word for it because we had the volume set to silent. At first we really tried to listen to them, but we endured only the first 2 minutes so we turned the volume down and listened to Lands End instead! There were some occasional moments though like Finland or Lithuania that we conceded to listen to. Actually I felt quite gloating about Estonian song as it didn't pass, maybe they will write better songs next year!

^Lands end is great and Holland is out . I have also watched some of the festival listening to POS and ultimately zapping to Animal Planet as i couldn't stand it any longer. Which Lands end album were you listening to?

ratingfreak site. How bad can the dutch song be then? to Tuzvihar: Yes, I saw the Polish ones!

The Brussels Jazz Maraton (some 400 concerts during the lenght of the WE >> most free or fairly cheap) is systematically run the WE of the Eurovision which means that we have a great alterative
On the Grand Place at 5PM, Thijs Van Leer (Focus) is playing for free with a jazz band
But it's been pouring rain all morning

^saarepiiga, I stopped listening to POS( mistake!) to hear the dutch song as i had never heard it before. Really stupid song with naive presentation. We have enough to be embarrased about in country lately don't need Treble to add to this. As for Lands end, Natural selection is one of the best albums i know. I don't have it yet , it's really hard to get. Going to do a dedicated search for it in the near future. Their last album Lower depths is easy to get but not nearly as good.

I saw Lordi post performance yesterday, but missed the song! I maybe out this evening, so I may miss it again... what it's like exactly?
I'm still rooting for them though, as they're completely non-Eurovision (yet in a completely Eurovision way). They had the lowest betting, but they got through to the finals.
And one country sounded just like Abba! That was very odd.
And I missed that controversial performance by that girl who got booed... again, what was that all about?
After Finland, I think I'd go for that tune about "We're going to win" or whatever...

i endured the show........... I thought Lordi were great! ....................well, far better than the rest of the bunch, some were inevitably appalling, which is of course why Eurovision is so much fun.........the English entry was down right embarrassing tho..........
As usual, Terry made the evening stomachable !
