These are the top 10 you should own if you like metal - and don't come up for discussion very often - even among metallers;
1. Raven - Wiped Out
2. Riot - Narita
3. Blackfoot - Marauder (also recommended: Strikes, Tomcattin' and Siogo)
4. Diamond Head - Living On Borrowed Time
5. Kreator - Extreme Aggression
6. Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
7. Motorhead - Overkill (also recommended: Everything with Fast Eddie and Philthy in the lineup)
8. Saxon - Saxon (also recommended: Everything up to and including "The Eagle has Landed")
9. Raven - Rock 'Til You Drop
10. Helloween - Walls Of Jericho

Quick note on Raven - "All For One" is their most accessible album (and also recommended), the two I listed suffer from dreadful production - but if you can put up with that, and the somewhat forced vocals of John Gallagher, the music is really special and unique.
/edit:
Crivens! I missed out sooo many unsung classics - but "Head On" by Samson is a MUST OWN!!! It features Bruce Dickinson on vocals, and it's Fan-f***ing-tastic!!

We don't give a toss for your stupid opinion in this thread - it's about the top 10 metal, not whether you like it or not.
Sod off and give your opinion in a different thread

Not all really metal, but it displays what I know, and what I like.
1. Rainbow Rising (Stargazer is beautifull, A Light In The Black is a heavy 10CC song ) 2. Metallica - Ride The Lightning (Amazing bass and guitar stuff ) 3. AC/DC - The Razor's Edge (sounds somewhat commercial, but I love it) 4. Led Zeppelin - IV (not really metal, but some great tunes there Rock & Roll) 5. Deep Purple - In Rock (Flight Of The Rat, Child In time, Speed King, all classics ) 6. Black Sabbath - Symptom Of The Universe (A compilation, but all classic ingredients) 7. Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast (classic album hallowed be thy name) 8. Arena - Pride (I'll use any excuse to promote Arena , Fool's Gold, Empire Of A Thousand days, Sirens, maybe not real heavy metal. but really great) 9. Dio - Holy Diver (just included him, because Zargus mentioned him, and I remember giving that album an infinite spin in the good old days) 10. Angra - Holy Land (Carolina IV, download the song from PA, great, some classical influences (Beethoven I think))
Like is obvbious from this list I know little metal, know enough for an opinion, but like too little to search really deep

Forgot about Raven + Samson. Life´s a Bitch is a cool album. And Paul Samson´s Joint Forces has some great songs on it.
Another one worth being mentioned: The Rods - The Rods + Wild Dogs

I don't know much about metal and probably could not come up with ten bands if I tried. But has anyone mentioned Yngwie Mamlsteen's debut album Rising Force? If so, excuse me. If not- That album turned heavy metal on a new course and should be mentioned as a great pivitol milestone in the annals of metal history...
