Tony R, has what we call, in the UK, a 'sense of humour' I realise this character trait has been outlawed in many parts of the world, and that some people have had the part of the brain responsible for processing irony removed, by the 'sarcasm police'...etc etc...
You see, us Brits just cant help ourselves. We open our mouths and the sarcasm and venom just vomits forth. Embrace Mr R's rudeness! We didn't win the war by being nice, you know! 
It was a combination of utter rudeness....and some minor..er..logistical help from....er....America....I guess..
