Beginning a Zappa exploration is a financially daunting commitment.

No idea but I've had situations where large CD packages have incurred tax when at the Post Office.  They even open the packaging to check the contents.  That's only usually when the docket note is truthful though.

Although I've noticed even Wayside say the package is worth less than the actual contents. Big smile

It is, but it's worth it.

So says the Zappa fanboy.

And I do fear my current (and most expensive to date) Wayside order will incur tax... gah!

I should have kept the order down to just Studio Zund.

Great recommendations.

I've hardly been listening to prog these past few days; I've been doing Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley, and Weather Report all day today. May have to do some Ornette and others tomorrow.

I was reading about National Health on Calyx earlier and completely forgot Mont Campbell was their bass player for a short while, as was John Greaves.  Also a certain William Bruford was their drummer too.

Those musos all certainly mingle.

Heavy Weather was disappointing to say the least.  I should try a different album by them, I guess.

Yep.  National Health Mk. I featured Mont on bass, Phil Miller and Phil Lee on guitar and Bruford on drums.

I love Greaves' fuzz bass sound.  He should have been in Magma.

His bass was deliciously fuzzy on Playtime.  I listened to that today and had multiple eargasms.

I need that, as well as that other National Health Outtakes album.

I just have Complete (e.g. the studio albums).

It also said on the page that they played a version of Mostly Twins and Trios which is a Greaves/Blegvad track.  I heard a version by Greaves and Blegvad earlier and it was really good.  I believe it was a post-Kew. Rhone. track.

They also played an Henry Cow track occasionally too.
