I don't know him and by your description it would be difficult to get him in; other similar composers were suggested but to no avail. I'll try to check him out, though. |

hey post-y dudes, particularly those who enjoy drone or noisy stuff, What are your thoughts on Glen Branca? I only had his album "Acension" for the longest time and while it is borderline post (think the droney parts of _on limpid form) his other stuff is killer and more ... i dont know, posty. Check out his Symphonies.
godfather of post rock? perhaps? PS why isnt he in the archives? honestly. |

Wasn't there supposed to be new Cult of Luna coming out this year?
Or was that the material they made for the Evika Riget audiobook?

This excellent French band just debuted with their first track published on a magazine compilation: http://www.myspace.com/naustnaust
I think we're going to hear good stuff from them in the future. |

i would say that they abandon the math rock with this release, not completely, but anyway i wouldn't call it math rock anymore, maybe more indie like something.

Yes, this is a new direction in math rock, but it had to be explored. I feel that this new sound of theirs is perhaps (unintentionally) closer to the classic strains of prog, in both spirit and sound than anything Don Cab or Battles has recorded. (just to mention a couple big names)

Is the post Rock-Post Metal genre is the new popular trend related to progressive rock? It seems to me that 80% of the new album add on Pa are coming from that genre. Why? |

Yes, yes you are. Seriously, you're missing out. If you like metal in the slightest bit you will enjoy Skeletonwitch and High on Fire, and I've come to the conclusion that Russian Circles is absolutely GODLY live
