I've had a guitar for 5 years, but I have never played with too much interest, so I am pratically at a beginner level. But one month ago I started playing keyboards, and this grabbed me a lot... Someone can indicate me some easy pop/prog songs to play? Like Piano Lessons by Porcupine Tree, which I learned yesterday

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

I play guitar. I played very well in my twenties. I'm picking it up again after a very long break from it. Mid-life crisis. I'm getting back in the swing of it pretty well.

I played a lot more 20 years ago. Stopped when I realized I'd never be a "god" no matter what. I lacked something. I guess it'd be called "talent." Won an acoustic signed by Alex Skolnick a couple years back and retrained myself a squirt. I still suck. LOL Still have my old 60s Epiphone Zenith classical out in the shed, though. Poor girl.
Like The Doctor up there, I'm an amazing air drummer. :D

I play keyboard in amateur hard rock/cover band We play Guns'n'Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirana, Offspring. No prog at all :-(
The band is guitar-centered, so my role is just cholding chords . I'm trying to arrange some guitar songs, to make them more "colorful" . But I refused to play "punk" stuff (boring for me), so when they play punk, I'm just sitting behind the keyboard and thinking I wish i'd have a beer until the song is ended

It's never too late. I finally got in a band when I was 35, and we're still playing nearly 8 years later. My guitar playing is better now than it's ever been , thanks to the extra practice.

I play guitar, but badly
I can do the open chords and bar chords just fine, but throw in some technical riffing and alternate picking and I'm lost.

Learning to play technical stuff is supposed to be painful. Of course, one cannot become a proficient guitar player overnight. You have to start with something really simple, practice whatever techniques and play whatever music comes your way, but never force yourself to play what you don't like. From my experience, if I want to learn to play technical rock-n'-roll, I should be able to play the blues and folk, get a feel for those styles and get an idea of what they are about.
Again, most importantly: learning to play technical stuff is supposed to be painful.

Just curious to see what percentage of PA members like jamming from time to time.
| Oh, I don't just jam. I write and arrange. I don't do experiments very much. I play acoustic and electric guitars but the acoustic piano is my weapon of choice. |
OK, ... lately, it's the electric guitar that's been my weapon of choice. I also forgot to mention that I use VST plugins from time to time that simulate the sounds of the Mellotron, the Hammond, the grand piano, and such. There was a time when I used to play around with those.

^ No problem, they even use top samples of the original tapes. Apps are very cheap once you have made the outlay for the iPad. About $15 for a mellotron app, a lot less than the mellotron I saw in a shop many years ago.
