Beatles easy. They were decent between 66 and 69 although I'm not crazy about them. Stones were mainly crap. Cream, Hendrix and Doors were the best bands of the late 60s though
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

The Stones, for 4 albums: Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile on Main Street. They continued to write some excellent songs after that, into, what, the early 80s, plus their pre-Banquet albums were pretty awesome too.

The Stones are no contest for the Beatles at all, even though they may be the greatest R&R band in the world.

None of the them is my cup of tea, but The Beatles made a musical revolution, and his music is more adventurous and complex. The Stones is just a simple rock music, good but no more than this.

Beatles definitely had something special and had a huge impact on the development of prog. Gotta give them love in this poll.

The Beatles were more truly adventurous and really changed the face of music with Sgt. Pepper and so on, but Let It Bleed is a great album - my favourite of the 2 bands' albums
Anyway, Beatles just about wins then

A tough question. The Rolling Stones never had an album that would be as strong as 'Sgt Pepper', but otherwise there's more interesting songs for me from the Stones than from the Beatles.
Think I'm going to vote for the Stones because of 'Paint It, Black'. A terrific song.

Beatles, no doubt. I like the enormous eclecticism and creativity, the wagonload of good songs, their subtle musicianship and George Martin's excellent production.

Beatles.....due to their prolific songwriting....but there are many songs by the Stones I actually like better than many Beatles tunes.
And someone said that the Stones wrote simple songs; that could be said about almost all of the early Beatles songs.....plus there was a certain menace to a lot of the Stones songs that was never there with the Beatles.

The simplicity of Stones' music was their strength.

The Beatles no contest. Stones were just way too simple.
