To be honest, I started watching 2001 on Netflix but I got bored and stopped. I have a problem with music being set to boring visuals, even if it's music I like.
Part 1 of Godfather is better than Part 2.

I agree that The Godfather is perfect. I think both 1 and 2 are. 3 has a lot of holes in the plot, but it's still so much better than 80% of what was released at the time.
I think 1 is the best movie ever. I agree with that idea.

The International- Clive Owens.... admittedly I was sort of skeptical going in, even though most of his roles have been excellent and well done.... the scary part about this movie is that it is largely based on fact, even though the story may be fictitious. (made me think of all the 9-11 conspiracy theories and my friend told me about a documentary called "loose change" which I should watch; which is about a timeline of American foibles and conspiracies in our own government....) Awesome, well-thought out plot with a few twists that weren't that tough to predict... overall- very well done and kept my interest all the way through. We kept joking about how the movie was just a bunch of rich old white dudes striving for power.... no token black men or men of other racial persuasion... so it was easy to get the names mixed up because there was no real longterm character development.... just surface nuances.. but this is a small complaint really (in the grand scheme).

I also watched a rather obscure British film from the 80s called Bellman & True with Bernard Hill who plays a computer genius whos extorted by a gang who have captured his son & wife to help them with a bank heist. The car chase in this movie is better than the one in The French Connection. Great poetic justice at the end. Won`t spoil it

Watched a couple old westerns recently.
Stagecoach with John Wayne - 4 stars
High Noon with Gary Cooper - like maybe half a star. Didn't enjoy at all.

I wasn't thrilled by High Noon but I saw it once a long time ago and would give it another chance
I think my favorite western was the Kung Fu TV series |

Apparently my complaint is not unusual: his character was totally wooden to me. As an actor, I can appreciate what he was trying to do, but in the end, it just didn't have the effect I would've liked. (But that's just my stuffy, annoying little inner acting critic coming out and saying "Hi there!")
Also the recurring theme song ground my gears into dust

last was actually,
Herzog's - Wild Blue Yonder a simple little Sci-Fi scenario narrated by Brad Dourif, which is used mostly as the glue that holds together various scenes of both natural environments and astronauts messing around in space, the musical accompaniment was actually the best part IMO and really enhanced the mood of the "story" , once again I use the term "story" loosely as its more about the beautiful shots than the actual plot, unique but also just a bit piece Herzog must have made to indulge his fetish for filming unusual territories 6/10 |

Wanted Highly entertaining and completely absurd actioneer with Morgan Freeman heading a fraternity of assassins who train a young man to avenge his father's murder at the hands of one of their own. James McAvoy excellent as the trainee. Well made, some good twists, based on the comic, reminiscent of the Remo Williams character.

Be Kind Rewind One of the zaniest and most clever comedies I've seen in a while with Jack Black and Mo Def as buddies who start making their own no-budget versions of famous movies, culminating in a bio about Fats Waller. Heartfelt and deeply funny.

Saw a couple of Buñuel classics, Un chien andalou and Simón del desierto in the cinema, both insanely hilarious.
