Andrew, next time you are in a grungy kind of mood, you might want to check out Silverchair. They are an Australian grunge type band from the 90's. Also, the new Alice In Chains is pretty good.

Wow, that's hard for me to imagine.
Sadly, it is the Failure to Launch scenario taken to the extreme, but I've always worked within 10 miles from my house and I went to college as a commuter. There were times in my teens where I couldn't wait to move out of my parent's house, but it never really made financial sense once the time came, and when it came down to it I was too lazy to deal with moving. My dad retired when I was 22 and him and my mom started traveling in their motor home 6 months a year so it was a pretty good situation where they needed somebody to watch the house and I needed somewhere to stay. They moved to Florida permanently when I was 27 or 28 and I had the option of either buying the house from them or moving. I was too lazy to move, so I bought the house.
Not such a bad thing, really. Having that kind of stability has its advantages.

I'm in the mood for some Sebadoh but don't have it on my iPod right now. I could do Youtube, but I don't generally like listening on my computer speakers at work, because I can never get it to sound good at the right volume. It's always either too quiet or too loud. My iPod dock works much better for me. Maybe I'll do some listening tonight on the big stereo. Funny how I only really use my main stereo once or twice a week. It used to be on constantly whenever I was home, back before iPods and when I was single.

I sometimes have vivid dreams of being back in our family home in the seventies/early eighties when my mother was alive, makes me wish i could go back and see the house from the inside again, but we moved away in 1985, so it's probably changed over time. But i have my memories, which can't be taken away.

I was just telling my daughter stories about a house we lived in for just one year when I was about her age (7). It was in Pittsburgh, and the house was very old and huge - a three story house plus a basement that had an office built down there. The third floor was entirely vacant, we didn't even have a use for it, which made it kind of mysterious. I thought it was the coolest house but I found out later my mom hated it. It was old and water pipes would break - I remember coming home one time to find it raining in the kitchen. We moved to Miami soon thereafter, where I lived out the rest of my childhood through college.
