7. Deep Purple - In Rock
8. Black Sabbath - Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
9. Rainbow - Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow
10. Uriah Heep - A Magician's Birthday

Damn what a predictable list ... here's another one

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."

I left Led Zeppelin out of my list, as I regard them a prog/blues/rock band - thats a genre I've just invented BTW

Zep could have their own top 10 IMO. They were one of the greatest rock bands of all time

I agree that it's hard to compare 70's "metal" with 80's and beyond metal, but for the sake of brevity, I'll combine 'em all. I also included some prog metal.

1. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
2. Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffitti
3. Black Sabbath - Paranoid
4. Megadeth - Rust In Peace (probably my favorite pure thrash album ever )
5. Metallica - Master Of Puppets
6. Deep Purple - Machine Head
7. Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger (grunge metal?)
8. Dream Theater - Awake
9. Dream Theater - Train Of Thought (yep, it's more thrash than prog, but I like it a lot; sometimes I feel Snow Dog and myself are the only ones on this site that do)
10. Opeth - Blackwater Park

You're list is very good Benny. I would have to agree with you (also on the Train of Thought thing, it's a great album)...

Not all really metal, but it displays what I know, and what I like.

1. Rainbow Rising (Stargazer is beautifull, A Light In The Black is a heavy 10CC song)
2. Metallica - Ride The Lightning (Amazing bass and guitar stuff)
3. AC/DC - The Razor's Edge (sounds somewhat commercial, but I love it)
4. Led Zeppelin - IV (not really metal, but some great tunes there Rock & Roll)
5. Deep Purple - In Rock (Flight Of The Rat, Child In time, Speed King, all classics)
6. Black Sabbath - Symptom Of The Universe (A compilation, but all classic ingredients)
7. Iron Maiden - The Number Of The Beast (classic album hallowed be thy name)
8. Arena - Pride (I'll use any excuse to promote Arena, Fool's Gold, Empire Of A Thousand days, Sirens, maybe not real heavy metal. but really great)
9. Dio - Holy Diver (just included him, because Zargus mentioned him, and I remember giving that album an infinite spin in the good old days)
10. Angra - Holy Land (Carolina IV, download the song from PA, great, some classical influences (Beethoven I think))

Like is obvbious from this list I know little metal, know enough for an opinion, but like too little to search really deep

I'm always almost unlucky _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Id5ZcnjXSZaSMFMC Id5LM2q2jfqz3YxT

Ooh, now dare I revisit those days when my hair was long, my face was spotty, my denim jacket was covered in patches and my girlfriends were few?

Sod it!

1. Think Lizzy - Thunder and Lightening
2. Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
3. MSG - Built To Destroy
4. The Scorpions - Lovedrive
5. Budgie - If I Were Britannia I'd Waive The Rules
6. Heavy Metal - Film Soundtrack (if only for those two ultra rare Cheap Trick songs)
7. Saxon - The Power & The Glory
8. Metallica - Master Of Puppets
9. Black Flag - Damaged
10. Dumpy's Rusty Nuts - Live

It was a close run thing between  Black Flag & Slayer's Reign In Blood, sorry about that Tom and the boys.
