It sounds like husband number one missed the mark on at least one of your requirements. LOL

I've talked to a few people from Texas including a few prog fans. I always ask the prog fans if they ever heard of Blood Rock (even though they were closer to Deep Purple than pure prog). Proud Peasant, Underground Railroad, Thirteen of Everything, Deadwood Forest and the Aaron Clift Experiment are all prog bands from Texas. I'm sure there's others too. Three of those are from Austin so maybe there's a scene there.

I have a nephew who is about 6'5". He's not a prog fan (that I know of) and doesn't play basketball but he does ultimate frisbee and used to be in the marching band. He goes to USC. His older brother is also tall (about 6'4") and also not into prog (like his father and brother- I'm the only one-Lol) and works at a auto parts store and goes to a local college. He's also not into sports but is also a musician (plays guitar). Their mother is also not a prog fan and is 5'11 (my brother is about 6'1") and used to play in the school band (and was also an athlete)

I don't think my son is a prog fan.  My son has a side hustle at a major concert arena. He tells me he can score tickets for Moi.  However, mostly dinosaur non-prog bands play there.  I am considering hitting him up for Alice Cooper tickets. My son is 6'9".  He played basketball through his sophomore year.  However, it was because the coaches pestered him to play.

FlowerKingCrimson, you were born into a tall family like mine. I'm four inches taller than my husband. When my husband, my son, and I get together it reminds me of this cartoon family. (Not the violent part...just the height differences)Wink

My dad is (or at least was) 6'2" and my mom is (or was) about 5'8". Yes, most of us are on the tall side. I'm guessing you are maybe 6'1" or 6'2"? My cousin's ex-husband was probably about three inches shorter than her (she's 5'10").

Alice Cooper would be cool. I'm glad to see he's still at it. I'm guessing he's maybe 5'10". Not every tall person should play basketball imo. I did when I was younger (but not on a school team just for fun) but I was never very good. It is my favorite sport to watch though.

Likewise, with prog, not everyone who has a relative who likes prog should be forced to listen to prog. I pestered my brother for years to give it a chance and listen to it (and he apparently did listen to some stuff at times but begrudgingly) but overall he never really took to it. He does like Yes to a degree and saw them with me about three times and saw King Crimson with me once but that's about it. He's older than me by three years (usually you would think it's the older sibling who's into prog but that's not the case with me) but he's more into singer/songwirter and alternative stuff and maybe some classic rock (mostly imo because of his wife).

Yeah, I'm almost 6'1".  Tall for a woman.  I was self-conscious of my height as a girl and a teenager.  Not so much anymore.  My husband loves prog as much as I do.  He's more into Krautrock and RIO than me. I like Italian and Crossover more than he. Wink

When I was younger I had a crush on two girls who were both about six feet tall (both blonde). One was the daughter of a woman my dad was dating (she was 5'10 and her ex husband 6'8"). The other one was a girl I met through people at school. She was a friend who I talked to on the phone but nothing ever came of it. It seems to me that most women prefer a taller guy but I guess it doesn't always work out that way.

Was it a coincidence that your husband likes prog or did one of you turn the other on to it?

I never saw that cartoon before. It looks interesting.

My husband has a thing for tall women. I have a thing for intelligent, aggressive males.  My first husband was 6'8" and lazy.  I dated my current husband for several years before we married. We both liked Prog before we knew each other. I'd seen YES, Genesis, and Rush in concert.  He's seen hundreds of concerts before we met. Together we've seen over a hundred prog concerts. Fort Worth Texas isn't a prog beehive. That said, we catch Dream Theater every time they come to North Texas.  Once, we went on a road trip following Dream Theater and Mastadon around Texas and Oklahoma. Our next prog dates are The Dear Hunter and then Haken.  I love Haken's new album-Fauna. When it comes to prog, North Texas gets Prog metal and 70's prog bands...mostly.

That is a tall man. I thought I read somewhere once that the Dutch on average were the tallest people.

I read (quite recently) that they were the Danes.

Had my photo taken with Marco Minnemann.  Marco is several inches taller than me but shorter than my son.  I'm guessing Marco is 6'3 to 6'4. Wink

Yep. That's what is says on google so we'll go with that. If we were to have a thread on shortest prog rockers then Jon Anderson might be on there.

I think Chris Squire was 6'3" also and Fish was reported to be 6'5".

I can't think of any others. This is kind of a weird topic anyway.

Mike Rutherford is 6'3". I divided myself up into two groups: meatballs and dish drying racks.
