I love "Countdown to Extinction" and "Youthanasia", even more than "Rust in Peace". I think the latter is excellent, but mostly because "Tornado of Souls", "Holy Wars" and "Hangar 18". The rest of the album is really good too, but not quite at the level of those. While the first two, CTE in particular, are extremely consistent.

Among my favorite songs I would pick the following:

502, Peace Sells, High Speed Dirt...but the list goes on. Great band with many great song.

...I´ve seen them a couple of times live too, but I always found them quite boring and introvert. I prefer listening to their albums at home.

In terms of their releases I prefer all albums (not so much the debut though) up until "Countdown to Extinction". They have a few decent releases after that, but overall very few albums or songs, which I would rate as high as the early material. Most artists reach a point where they have brought their full potential to the table and I think Megadeath reached their´s in the "Countdown to Extinction"/"Youthanasia" period.

I´ve reviewed every single album in their discography, so if you´re bored go to one of the two links at the bottom of my signature, and search for Megadeth and you´ll find those reviews...

...here´s a helping hand: UMUR's music - Rate Your Music

Hmm...I see my review of the latest album is still in back log to be posted.

My favourite Megadeth album is Youthanasia. It was the album that got me into the band around the time it was out.

Whilst, my favourite song of theirs gotta be Holy Wars... The Punishment Due from their album Rust in Peace.

Youthanasia was always my favourite, followed by Countdown To Extinction, but that was over 25 years ago now and I'm not sure how much of their stuff I've heard since...
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Nice, I watched them live a couple of weeks ago.

They streamed the shows here (Argentina), although I went to the 3rd show and only the first two were streamed.

Dave's voice is not the same as it was and there is no Marty Friedman (it was rumoured that he would be a surprise guest but it didn't happen) but I'm glad I was able to watch them at least once.

Countdown to Extinction is my favorite album. Peace Sells is one of my favorite songs. I recently listened to Dystopia and thought that was decent.

I saw them once live back in the late 80's opening for Dio. Mustaine was not in a good place mentally and completely drunk. Couldn't play and at one point got into a shouting match with someone in the audience. He got really depressed at one point talking about Cliff Burton, who grew up not too far from where the show was (Oakland. CA).
