In brief, John Raese, senate candidate for West Virginia, says this:

"I have to put a huge sticker on my buildings to say this is a smoke-free environment. This is brought to you by the government of Monongalia County. Okay? Remember Hitler used to put Star of David on everybody’s lapel, remember that? Same thing."
I can't enough of how Hitler put the Star Of David on EVERYBODY'S lapel.

Eh he's just playing the game...which if you're a republican currently, that means going out of your way to prove how uber super duper anti government you are.


Needless to say almost none of them really espouse that so best to pick something easy like smoking bans and really go overboard.

It's news in terms of the bigger picture of what is and isn't acceptable for the class of person who believes they should be in government to say. If you wouldn't mind at all if the leader of your country said "everybody had to wear Stars of David" and "this was the same as banning smoking" then I guess it isn't news, but I would. Exposure needs to be given to this sort of thing to let people know this level of idiocy is not OK in politics.

There's bigger things to worry about than how a politician words his statements. He doesn't say anywhere that they're acts of equal devastation or anything like that. He just makes a stupid comparison. It's just words. We should be more concerned about actions, especially serious ones. We're involved in a dozen wars and hot combat activities and the phrasing a potential senator uses to describe a smoking bank should make me upset?

Because people who say idiotic things like that wind up getting elected and then proceed to pass idiotic laws.  It's not a matter of upset for me more of a concern.

Every politician is an idiot. I'm more worried about the ones who do stupid things than the ones who may do stupid things. You're reading too much into the comment.

That can be understood in one of two ways: 1, Maddow is always "on" something it might as well be Olberman. 2, well, it makes me feel quite unwell too.
