Topic: Thoughts on Eloy's debut Posted: June 25 2012 at 01:45 |
I was reading Eloys reviews and I noticed that their debut album has a rather low 2.68 rating. I, personally think it's a great heavy prog album. I think it's great musically, although I don't find the lyrics too interesting. I'd really love to hear other people's opinions on this album. Thanks!

I'm so glad a thread like this was started! The most overlooked and under-rated of Eloy's work.It is one of my personal favorites, second only to Inside as my all time favorite of the group. As you have said, it is really a great heavy prog album (and produced by the late, great Conny Plank) I loved it on first listen, and still do to this day.

I must admit that I haven't heard it in awhile. Maybe I should give it a spin tonight, though if my memory serves me well, it is a fairly decent heavy prog album not unlike Birth Control or Jane. I much prefer the krautrock turn they made with the subsequent two releases, but like I said, it has been some time since I last heard that debut.
Thanks for the reminder.

I've never heard it and unfortunately the price of it on Amazon probably means I never will

I love Eloy's debut album, in fact it's one of my favourites from them.

I discovered that record late enough. Means that I had already all their records up to 1982. Maybe I was so much used in their later sound, so I didn't like it so much. It's been years I haven't listen this record, but if I remember well the 'Song of the paranoid soldier' was my favorite track from this album. But my big loves are Power & Passion and Dawn. Mostly Dawn! I have spend amazing money for this record, as I was buing it in every possible release I could find!

It's a beginning but doesn't excite me the way the rest of their albums do.
