It's a tie for me, between Camel and Gentle Giant. Hawkwind and VDGG follow very close.

As a whole, Camel. Among these albums, Pawn Hearts.

I really like all 4 (some have grown on me in the last few years - thanks to the views of PA members), but I have to go with Mirage by Camel. It's been in my DNA for so long.

Mirage vs. Pawn Hearts, tough one. I'll pick VDGG despite being very keen on Camel currently.

pfff... figures...last place. I'm sure most of you are really nice people.. but probably boring as HELL
Space Ritual.. by lightyears...
other than the 4 that had voted for it.... you all need to get some lives.. drink, smoke, dance on pool tables, run naked through women's domitories, blow some poor b*****ds brains over your boots with a .45 slug, and have sex ..lots of it.
simply. experience life.. Space Ritual is the soundtrack to the oddity of reality and drinking deeply from it and of life
living it to the fullest and not spent in mama's basement thinking that lame attempts at being intellectual are worth your time.

I've been to a Hawkwind-concert and yeah man it was totally packed with alpha males (surrounded by smoking hot rock chicks - obviously) ready to grab life by the horns, throat or those big balls you americans are so obsessive about... Seriously though I somewhat agree. Beware prog-nerds:
Anyway I got:
1. VdGG 2. Camel 3. Gentle Giant 4. Hawkwind
-but don't worry bout me I'm blessed with looks, brains and self-confidence + I listen to Thin Lizzy n' stuff

I've listened to and enjoyed all of those for decades. The Camel and GG albums have stood the test of time better though (to me, at least).

Space Ritual is mesmerizingly wonderful! Three Friends is pretty great, working all day is somewhat simple but funny. Pawn Hearts is great, but VDGG albums all run together into one big cake of great songs that I cannot differentiate between. I have to check out Camel. I think I had Moonmadness but I could not get into it.

although Hawkwind is one of my very favourite bands, I'm not a big listener of live albums. I've never been into Gentle Giant. I did make a point of checking out a lot of their stuff a few months ago, including Three Friends and it wasn't to my taste. although that is probably largely down to me tending to prefer contemporary progressive rock to albums from the 70s when checking out new (to me) music. And although A plague of Lighthouse keepers is a great track, I was never keen on the rest of Prawn Hearts. So Mirage it is for me

Hawkwind is out, a very cool album but not one of my faves from the Hawks, but the other three are my favourite albums from each of these bands. So, the favourite of the favourites..........? Quite possibly Three Friends, but near impossible to honestly commit to ticking the box......... Think I’ll return to Cannibal Corpse for now.

If I had to listen to one of these over and over....it would be Camel or Hawkwind....but the guitar work and playing is better on Camel even though the artwork and Stacia's exotic dancing make up for the lack of that. (That's prolly why Micky likes it so much..that and the booze, etc...) ;) 3 Friends is one of my least favorite GG lp's and Pawn Hearts...while considered a 'masterpiece' by many..and does have some great playing....simply starts to annoy after repeated listens...mostly due to that weird singer they had.

VDGG because it's epic. Also, none of the rest have Fripp.

Tough choice, but out of these, Came "Mirage" for me. Then VDGG, then that particular GG record (my fave prog band, but not my fave album of theirs).

Is Pawn Hearts my favourite prog album of all time...? It may be... If it were not the first, it would still very close to the first.
Mirage is very good but it is far from Pawn Hearts.
Three Friends (for me one of the worst of GG) and Space Ritual are very far.

Horn Parts by miles, then Space Ritual GG but cannot stand that camel dung Mirage. Appalling crap. Lester Bangs (an arsehole) infamously referred to ELP as war criminals. If that term was ever to be applied to any prog band then surely it would belong to Camel.

Gentle Giant and Yes are my two main bands, so it's rare you'll see me vote against either...
But in this case, VDGG takes the cake out of these selections.
